Independence Day by Martina McBride. The single peaked at a surprising #12 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart in 1994. It's considered one of McBride's signature songs if her THE signature song of her career and it never made the top 10. The controversial nature of the song kept airplay down at conservative country radio, preventing a higher peak. It won a CMA award for Song of the Year (for songwriting).

I remember the mid-1970's Philidelphia Flyers would have Kate Smith sing "God Bless America" before games instead of the the Star Spangled Banner. IIRC this was the Flyers good luck charm. At about 1:50 in this clip, a graphic shows the Flyers record when Smith sang GBA 36-3-1
