Shirley Jones was on the early 1970s television show The Partridge Family with her stepson, David Cassidy — about the same time other teen heartthrobs included the Jackson Five and the Osmond Brothers. I guess The Partridge Family was fictional but based on a real family singing group. David wouldn’t have had to sing, but I read somewhere he took his part seriously, worked at it, that he wanted perform the music himself, and do it well. This was probably their best known song:
Not sure how many today would know how popular he was, so here is a bit from David Cassidy’s Wikipedia page: . . .
The show proved popular, but the fame took its toll on Cassidy. In the midst of his rise to fame, Cassidy felt stifled by the show and trapped by the mass hysteria surrounding his every move.[11]:92–95 . . . https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Cassidy
Actress Susan Dey would later play an an attorney on the TV series LA Law.
Shirley Jones earlier played Marian the Librarian, in 1962, in the film adaptation of the the hit Broadway show The Music Man. This was Iowa-native Meredith Willson’s ode to his hometown of Mason City (“River City”). Willson also wrote a pep song for ISU (For I For S) and the official fight song for UI.

Below are clips from The Music Man. The first is a classic, of con artist/salesman Harold Hill, but Shirley Jones comes into the picture at the end (the music teacher). In one of their earlier works, The Beatles did a cover of the last one, Till There was You, linked here at the end.
