Omaha Tailgate Tour

I think I know the answer too this... But.. My parents, and my family of 4 are going to the tailgate tour tonight in Omaha.. My kids are 5 and 2... But really the food from the zoo is nothing special. Burgers, Hot Dogs and really over priced.. This morning my wife asked if we should bring a pizza to eat... My initial response was no I dont think that would be a good idea... But am wondering what is everyone else take on this? I got a pretty good idea..

FYI the last 2 years the food has been the Zoo just opens up one of the concession stands by were all the activites are held.. So it is free to get into, but you buy the food from the zoo concessions...

Might as well just stop and eat at McDonald's or BK on 13th before venturing over to the zoo. Cheaper options for the kids.

There are a bunch of picnic tables, so we brought sandwiches from home in last year. Looking forward to it again tonight!

The zoo closes at 5 but the gates will stay open for people coming to the event. Just say you are there for the tailgate tour and they will let you in for free (not sure how early you can show up and still get in for free). The buildings stay open until 6.

They hold the event in the plaza between the IMAX and the Desert Dome. Can't miss it. They will keep a concession stand open so you can purchase food if you want. Very limited menu and pricy. No one will say anything to you if you bring in your own food to eat. Especially if you have children.

Very family friendly event and a lot of fun for the young ones. Hope they are ready to get up in front of everyone and help Cy lead a cheer for the Cyclones!

Was at the very end of the night. I've only been the year they had it at the Qwest Center and last year at the zoo. IMO, the Qwest was a better venue with lots more for the kids to do.

the year before last year they gave out kids Hats!! it is so much fun!! cant wait... Maybe I will just have my wife make some sandwichs for the kids... I usually get a pretzel!!

That was a last minute switch back then. It was supposed to be outdoors somewhere (the place escapes me) but tornado watches forced them to move it last minute.
