OL vs. DL Recruiting Question

I know Klein and Knott will be great LBs and that's where the coaches want them, but it would be nice to see them put on 20lbs and be a quick, athletic DE. And then do the same thing at LB. Recruit DB's like Benton, put 15-20lbs on them and move them to LB. It is hard for Iowa State to recruit guys that have the body ready to play in the Big XII, right away.

Knott is small for a LB. I don't understand why people think he can move to DE. He is a speedy Weak-side LBer, don't think he will ever be a DE. Which is fine, because we really need LBers too.

Does anyone know if Willie Scott is still at LBer, or if he has been moved to DE?

Fascinating that you would think that Knott is too small for end, but wonder if Scott is one yet. Knott is listed 6'2" 234, Scott at 6'2" 214.

Hey, their names rhyme. :biglaugh:

BTW, Jason Berryman was listed at 6'2" 210 when he played end as a freshman.

And if Knott were to put on thirty pounds in the off season, I could see him switching to end. Rather see him put on ten and play strongside, but I'm greedy.

No way Knott is playing at 234 right now. If he is 234 then AJ Klein is 250 lbs. Tim Dobbins played MLB at ISU at 245 lbs for reference.

Scott also lined up at LB and DE in high school in his videos. He reminded me of Tyson Smith. Knott played WR and S in high school. Either way my money is on Knott playing LBer, because his speed is his best weapon, and we really need him there.

This is interesting to me because I was noticing Chris Lyle right before the snap has his head down more than Nate Frere does. In other words, from the end zone you can see Nate's face but not Chris's. So, is Chris just looking at the OL feet to know when the snap??

Anyway, it's fascinating to me wondering what the DL is looking at to see where the play is heading.

He could be looking at the feet or the down hand, or even a knee to see what moves first and gives him the best legal jump at the snap.
