I remember during camp Rhoads said Gannon was going to play a big part for us to be successful this year. I'm excited to see Campos play too but right now obviously Gannon was the guy. We'll probably never know what went down but no matter what is sucks to lose him.

No I am saying that I am not about to struggle through an incredibly difficult major if I would never be using those skills.

LOL.

That's so ridiculously dumb that I don't know where to start.

He's obviously intelligent and has known for a long, long time that his chances of playing the NFL are basically zero.

Even if he did make it, he's smart enough to realize that NFL careers are short and rarely result in enough money to result in never having to work again.

Ok this is what I got from his cousin who contacted their grandmother and her dad(who is a Hawk legend with the same last name) He has one class left this semester and was contemplating all summer long if he was going to come back at all. He truly is burnt out and is "dying to be a normal person, lose some weight and start working." He is a really smart kid and it sucks that he just up and quit the team but it's better than him being out there and not caring.

Regarding last nights practice, the coaches(was told "new defensive coordinator" so take that one with a grain of salt) were going off on the defense and I guess Jacob got tired of it and just walked off the field. She said it was the straw that broke the camels back.

Who is the new defensive coordinator and what does he have to do with an offensive lineman?

I have a feeling that if the players hate Rhoads they would have transferred by now.

They might like their position coach. They might like their teammates. They might like Ames. They might like the thought of playing in the Big 12 and have no similar transfer options.

Regardless, we had a starting Dlineman quit and a starting Olineman quit during the season.

If Rhoads hasn't totally lost this team, he's close.

I think I've had about enough internet for today.

I am going to go ahead and assume you don't even begin to comprehend the difficulty of getting through a difficult major like computer science while also playing football at a Division I level. Why would you make life any harder than it needs to be when you could very well just get a communications/general studies/liberal arts degree and sleep through college and have no distractions with football.

Gonna guess you're a Comp Sci major?

I don't understand why so many of you are giving him a pass. He quit, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON - completely turning his back on his teammates. Chicken **** if you ask me.

If you're going to quit, do it after the 2013 season. Don't wait until one game, shrug your shoulders and turn your back on your team.

WTF? Senior OL quitting after the first game? Seriously what is going on?
Very good question. When you have senior starters quitting after one game, obviously there are problems. Maybe it's a personal thing, but I'm still not happy. I'm going to assume (read: hope) he had a personal/family issue and that it isn't a problem with the team/Rhoads/locker room.

Guess I am going to have to spell it out to you because, well I don't like name calling even when it may be justified. He is done in December, he clearly isn't trying to be in the NFL because he would minimize his distractions (such as really difficult classes) if he was, he realized that his career is more important to him than this season (can't blame him, he won't/didn't want to be in the NFL), and would like to focus on finding a job (because believe it or not, its not the easiest thing in the world to do these days). All of this combined is taking away from his focus on the field, so at this point playing isn't worth it. What's not to get?
