Hard not to see how you could get burnt out, especially with all of the losing. The football field is not a good place to be if your heart is not in it 100%.

IIRC Bates quit the night before or morning of the team's flight to Waco in 2008. Pretty sure Austen got hurt in that game too (thumb maybe?)

Hope it's nothing too serious regarding Jacob or his family, but also hope it's not a sign of how things are going within the program.

If he didn't want to finish out his season, it's probably for the best. Doesn't make him a bad person, just means he didn't want to play football anymore, so you might as well fill his spot with someone that wants to be there.

I don't know the rules but I highly doubt that's possible.

Good for him. If you're not in the game, make way for someone else. Most people look at it as selfish, but I look at it the opposite way. If you aren't committed 100% you aren't doing the program any favors and he might as well make way for Campos.

It's definitely a sign of how things are going within the program. Rhoads is losing this team and I thought after Saturday it was pretty clear that this is the beginning of the end for Rhoads.
