Oklahoma Text Msg...to SEC West...

Would Heipel say he got the text about the SEC just to throw everybody off? Knowing how hungry everyone is for news and all of the rumors flying, I could see somebody doing that. Or, maybe the other coach sent him the text just to freak him out. I don't know how much stock I would put in it.

Did anyone see Ashton anywhere around. I think Josh got Punked.

UT operatives at work....they are sending up smoke screens....their plot is lile the series Lost.

I don't know if its true about OU or A&M and the SEC. But who cares? Speculation on the direction of the other schools is a fun diversion from wondering about what ISU's leadership is up to. At least its better than the "sky is falling" talk the last few days on the boards, or the Hawk fans kicking us while we're down (Husker fans doing same here in NE). For all I know TX is joining the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East to start a whole new rivalry if A&M goes to the SEC without them. Then they'd be on the NFL network...is that as good as the Big 10 network?

I guess I don't understand why it's so important OU and Texas be in the same conference. There still gonna play, and being in different leagues they both could play in conf. championship games. Possibly a rematch in the NC.

This tells me that Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas, A&M and Oklahoma State are heading to the Pac-10. Add in Colorado and they have their Pac-16.

Why would the Pac-10 take Tier 3 OSU without OU? The only way OSU is linked to the Texas schools is through OU. In this scenario, either OSU goes with OU to the SEC, or OSU goes on the orphan list...

I could see OSU going to the SEC. Agree with you there. I haven't paid enough attention to the SEC and how many teams they want to accept. If they wanted, they could take everyone from the south, but I think OU and Texas are the only ones they want.

That's what I'm thinking too. If OU and aTm head off to the SEC, is it possible that the Pac 10 says to OSU and Tech, "thanks, but we only want UT now"? That gets them to 12 teams, and probably gets most of the Texas TV markets too.

If SEC adds, they want to expand their footprint. Adding OSU after adding OU does nothing for them.

and BP is already upset about the possibility of OSU leaving.
Not following OU might be just the reason they need to stay.
Money talks and most of OSUs came from Boone Pickins.

Ain't it fun guessing!

What makes the most sense to me is OU and TAM to the SEC and Texas joins CU in the PAC 10. Then a new Big 12 Conf emerges our of the following teams:

ISU
MU
KSU
KU
OSU
TT
Baylor
TCU
Houston
Utah
Memphis
Louisville
Air Force
New Mexico
SMU
Cincy
Brigham Young

The first 12 in this list would make a decent marketable conference.

OSU ending up on the orphan list would be big. With six orphans banding together, there aren't enough simple majority votes to disband the conference, and the other dudes have to pay their buyout money...

I can't see the Pac-10 taking OSU if OU doesn't go. OSU doesn't have a big rivalry with Texas, TTU, or really for that matter CU. They are not a strong research school, and not sure they really fit the academic profile needed to survive in the Pac-10. Not sure how TTU fits the academic profile either, but they have a rivalry with Texas going back to the SWC days.
