Oklahoma Text Msg...to SEC West...

That could be bad for us. The Pac-whatever, would probably then invite both Utah and KU to join their conference.

This tells me that Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas, A&M and Oklahoma State are heading to the Pac-10. Add in Colorado and they have their Pac-16.

I find it extremely difficult to believe that Texas and Oklahoma are not going to be in the same conference going forward.

That was sometime mid day on Friday and havent heard much of it til this. Like most other things lately, the first rumors are usually the ones that will actually happen.

That's from Thursday based on the ticker.
If it's true wouldn't this be more widely reported the last two days?

From the impression I got, the PAC-10 wanted Texas and would take whoever they needed to assure that. So it'll be interesting to see if it's UT, aTm, OU and OSU are headed to the SEC or if it's OU and maybe just aTm...

Would Heipel say he got the text about the SEC just to throw everybody off? Knowing how hungry everyone is for news and all of the rumors flying, I could see somebody doing that. Or, maybe the other coach sent him the text just to freak him out. I don't know how much stock I would put in it.

This could also signal most of the major conferences to stop at 14. There's no magic that gets them more cash to go to 16 and divide the spoils more ways. The mid majors will need to do that to try to get a spot at the BCS table. What it could mean is that there won't be a push by the Big 10 to get to 16 and they stay at 12, leaving Missouri and KSU in the same boat with us and Baylor, and Kansas if the PAC 10 rumors aren't true. It really says that if the SEC and their long term TV contracts had to expand, they prefer to add Big XII teams instead of ACC or Big East Teams, but still leaves them a couple slots to fill. It also shuts down the PAC 10 from getting near them or Big 10 in terms of stature and makes them reach further for name teams. A real victory all around for the SEC at the cost of dividing that TV revenue a bit further over the next few years. Look out for their next contract.

Come on, JP. Time to get cracking on hitting a home run on this conference thing fast.

Cyforce beat me to it. That was from two days ago. I don't know how much stock I'd put into it.

Baylor isn't going, and one if this is true, one of texas/a&m will go to the sec as well

You might be right there, especially when the conference call next week is between ISU, KU, Kstate, Baylor and Missouri. Seems like we are the last standing.
