Okie State Fraternity: Dead* steer found on yard

Ag folks can confirm... but is it safe to assume the stomach of the steer was slit to prevent gas buildup that could lead to an explosion on the lawn?
We usually don't do that since the rendering truck is always in the area for the hog sites. We do slit it like to be posted by the vet when they die from an unknown reason that we want to find out.

Why? Apparently they took an already dead animal and dumped in in their rival house's front yard. I'm glad they didn't kill it first. Looking at the picture it looks like it was pretty unhealthy before it died. Prank taken too far? Probably. Do they need to arrest college kids and prosecute over this? No. Maybe a fine.

The "exploding cow" thing dates back to 1998 when fat steers that died from the extremely hot weather would (rarely) explode if left out in the sun due to the combination of rapid rumen gas accumulation and rapid decomposition. I don't think this skinny old thing was at risk of exploding The incision doesn't look long enough for a post mortem exam. I might speculate it could have been to allow the escape of rumen gas to allow for a "more natural" look.

Longhorns are naturally skinny cattle and this one may have been used for roping. Calves for roping are on restricted diets to extend their useful lives. But no way anyone should butcher something like this.

Loyalty is about to be tested on some college kids....and I'm guessing there will be a whole lot of babbling going on.
It's not like anyone is going to get arrested or have a felony put on them. Worst case they MIGHT get an unlawful disposal of a livestock carcass

Exactly, I doubt a lot of resources are going to be spent on trying to prosecute on this. Especially if the FH folks do not want to corporate with police.

Yeah, it's a longhorn, but that thing was pretty scrawny.
