That's trouble just telling ya right now. Haliburton isnt exactly going to be crashing the boards like DeAndre Kane ocne upon a time.
I mean I don't know how else to tell you but Nixon is a lot better than Lewis. Like way way better

Yes. Defense could be an adjustment early on but he’s extremely quick so he has a chance to be solid on defense. Is Leech as skinny as he looks in pictures? I worry about the physicality of big 12 ball with him

We had a pretty long starting 5 last year and couldn't rebound worth a crap. To an extent, size doesn't mean you're a great rebounder. Being smart with your positioning, having good fundamentals, and wanting to get the rebound more than the other guy is what constitutes a great rebounder.
Kansas State the last few years has had two guards both under 6'3" starting for them, and they've been a decent rebounding team and have had success. I can see our two guards being like Stokes and Brown when it comes to the little things.I mean I never disagreed. Haliburton (at least last year) utilized his length in passing lanes but not on the boards. Hes rail thin. Bolton and Nixon are both 6'2" at best I dont see them being plus rebounders from the 2-3 spots. One of the three of those guys needs to become an absolute bulldog on the boards if you want to play that small in the backcourt that's all I am saying. Maybe Nixon is that guy.
How anyone could look at Nixon’s production in nearly 100 games at CSU and compare that to Lewis at ISU and come to the conclusion that Lewis is better is baffling to me

You’ve yet to prove it’s tangibly smaller, yet alone that Bolton being 6’2” rather than 6’4” has a significant impact on rebounding. It may be missing guys that are good at rebounding, but that’s a different contention than it’s “that” small of backcourt.I mean I never disagreed. I mean that's just a really bad example because K States frontcourt is exactly what I proposed for Iowa State to pair with 2 smallish guards.
Xavier Sneed at the 3. 6'5" - 6'6" filled out body that can battle for boards and hit 3s. There is Terrence Lewis.
Dean Wade at the 4 is very similar to Mike Jacobsen.
Mawien at the 5 has similar length as Conditt.
Diarra also was probably a better player than Sneed last year but Sneed still started. Sometimes size/matchups/preferred style of play doesnt always allow you to start your best 5.
*Also, Barry Brown was a damn bulldog wasnt afraid of sticking his nose in there. Nixon and Bolton both may be from the same cut I just dont know yet.
Last year we watched Haliburton in the summer league and wondered if *maybe* he could contribute as a freshman. We know how that turned out. Tre seems to be that guy this year.
What Sneed and Lewis have in common.
1) They play basketball
2) They are human
I'm not a Lewis hater, certainly think he has a role... but a "filled out body that can battle for boards and hit 3s"?
If Lewis starts, something will seriously have changed for him. He's had some individual offensive skills all along, and, he does look physically stronger now. But, multiple lights need to turn on for him in games - he has been a huge liability on D. If he could somehow get that down, I could see him in the rotation. But, to suggest he's going to start at this point is a major leap.Lol he was a consensus 4 star recruit that has a prototypical body for a small forward with a smooth jumper. Not certain where we are disagreeing here. Dude has looked lost on defense and lazy on the court I fully agree. Merely saying he is an upperclassmen now and Prohm didnt tell him to look for a scholarship elsewhere. He was behind some pretty good players last year as well. Hope the light fully turns on for him.
Rebounding has more to do with a mindset that you are going to get that mother ******* ball and nobody else will. If you decide that you will be a very effective rebounder. Look what Uncle Jake Anderson did as the smallest player on the floor for Iowa State when he had his lone season in Ames.We had THT who was a 3 guard playing the 4 and Jacobsen who is a 4 playing the 5. We aren't going to become a better rebounding team by rolling out an even smaller roster. We just aren't.
It started the 1st night of the league.Since when did this thread turn into a free for all on how bad Lewis sucks and the rotation next year?
Since a majority of us don't go to these games it would be nice to get some info on how the guys actually look this summer.
From what I've heard, Nixon is a gritty type player who isn't afraid to do whatever it takes to help the team. That usually means he defends really well, is always on the floor for loose balls, and isn't afraid to put a body on someone when boxing out. I'm not exactly sure how well Rasir Bolton will be at rebounding, but looking at even his CCL film, he's pretty explosive and as long as he boxes out well, he should do alright. Although Terrence Lewis hasn't gotten that much playing time, when he did play it didn't seem like he was that good of a rebounder. That could be because he seemed to always not be in the right rotation / position on defense. Either way, I don't think going 6'2", 6'2", 6'5" at the guard position is as big of a deal as you're making it to be.I mean that's just a really bad example because K States frontcourt is exactly what I proposed for Iowa State to pair with 2 smallish guards.

The odds Lewis starts over a healthy Nixon is 0%
