**OFFICIAL WEST VIRGINIA LOSES THREAD**

I didn't watch the game so I don't have a opinion on the calls but I see Dana is whining about the refs:
http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...ked-west-virginia-touchdown-big-run-nullified

Now he knows how most of the Big 12 feels when this kind of crap happens on a regular basis to them. Big 12 refs are awful and have been for awhile, wish the conference would work on this

It was the correct call. West Virginia guy didn’t need to continue to block the OU guy out of bounds.......and then try to pancake him after that about 10 yards out of bounds. Blame your idiotic player Whiney Ass Holgerson. The refs had no choice.

Has no reason to whine, he's just being a little baby. Both calls were correct.

1. They ran a pick play on the goalline and Sills creamed the DB while the ball was being thrown. It's an obvious penalty and imo needs to be called more.

2. The WV moron WR decided to block a DB, but instead of letting up after the ball carrier passed him, he decided to keep blocking when both were already out of bounds (think the Baylor play with DM and the gatorade table). Once again easy penalty.

Item #1 was a result of Dana trying to run a cheap play and item #2 was a result of Dana having undisciplined players.

(Since ISU and WV have virtually the same original stadium) Imagine a player blocking a player all the way to the wall of the stands at JTS. That's what was flagged. It was completely unnecessary in how far out of bounds he was blocked and how far out of the play that block became - the ball carrier was 20-30 yards upfield by that point.

Both of those were absolutely the correct calls. Sills jumped, spread eagle style, into the other receiver's defender - didn't even try to disguise it. The kid that continued to block 4/5/6 yards out of bounds was an easy/obvious call as well. Dana is getting real good at the whiner/sore loser schtick.

I would not want to play either wvu or ou again this year.

I would hope ISU would at least attempt to play some defense.

Last night really was 'defense optional' as they say and not good football.

A college game looking like an exhibition is just as boring as a low scoring game.

Myself-- I don't mind a game full of 3rd downs. And I don't mean a punt fest either. It doesn't always mean bad offense. Just like a high scoring game doesn't always mean bad defense.

And it just makes the Big 12 look bad. They're just talking about how the Big 12 plays no defense whatsoever now all morning on GameDay, and the sad part is that it isn't always the case.

When Iowa scores 63 on Illinois, or tOSU beats Maryland 52-51, or Nebby puts up 53 on Minny and 54 on Illinois, there's absolutely NO talk whatsoever about the B1G's poor defense at all.

OU and WV did the Big 12 no favors last night on being a defense optional league, and that hurts this conference a lot nationally.

They had a graphic on "opponents points allowed" by conference and while the Big 12 was first at 28, the ACC, Pac 12 an Big 10 were within a few points. Something doesn't add up.

The blocking 10 yards out of bounds serves no purpose and is truthfully poor blocking. Once you get the player blocked where he doesn't have a decent play on the ball carrier, best to cut loose and head down field to see if you can get another block to free the runner for more yardage. That block was being a douche and trying to pound him into the ground.

The pick play was awful. Yes everyone runs them, but they don't do a flying squirrel move at the defender, they run their route and try to get defenders to bump, or go and sit on a route right infront of the defender like they are running a small hook pattern.

No idea why DH would be whining about these two, they were textbook penalties. If it happened to our guys, I would be more upset at our guys making it so obvious and doing dumb stuff.

I would also like them to include plays ran. When WV, OU, OSU and the others are snapping the ball with 15 seconds left on the play clock, that adds up compared to the big ten always being down to 5 or less on the clock. More plays will typically lead to more yardage and most likely more points.

Whining is what Skully does. His whining was the reason why ISU was fined $25k for rushing the field when we kicked their ass.

I went to NCAA.com and pulled the stats. This includes the games played this week:

B12 27.8
ACC 27.5
P12 26.4
B10 25.8
SEC 22.1

So, they are making a huge deal over 2 ppg difference between the Big 12 and the Big 10. SEC definitely better defense, but the other 4? Not much of a spread. I just contend the Big 12 games are more exciting, so they get more exposure.

Right. If a team is good on offense they'll get theirs. But the horrible pursuit and tackling means the defense is bad. There were just straight up whiffs last night.

If OU were even average on defense their games are probably more like 45-21 type of scores due to speed of pssessions.

Flat out amazing how the media spins all this garbage though every single year about how awful the Big 12 defenses are.

I did like this morning on GameDay though when David Pollack said that although OU has a bad defense, they might be the only team that can hang with Alabama or give them trouble at least. Pollack tends to give the Big 12 some love. Not sure why, but he does.

Well until OU stops giving up an average of 40/game for practically half their schedule and looks like they did last night that perception won't change.
