Luck would need to average about 40 TDs per year for another 12 years to get roughly where Manning will likely be at the end of the year. That's a pretty tall order, especially considering the 40 TD threshold has only been eclipsed 7 total times since the 2001 season.

Five of those seven times have occurred since 2011, though. The league is throwing more and more, so it might not be as daunting if health was guaranteed. But as Clark posted, Luck absorbs a ton of punishment. As strong and solid as he is, that can't possibly hold up forever. Did you see the shot he took from Burfict yesterday? Burfict put his helmet right on Luck's chest and hand, and Burfict was the one who had to leave the game.

the crazy thing is that's Joe Staley he just did that to. He's not exactly a scrub. Multiple time pro bowler. Multiple time All Pro. He's a really good lineman. Ware just made him look stupid.

But no player has done it more than twice. Yes, the NFL is becoming more throwing oriented, but the stats that Luck would need are basically unheard of, even in today's pass happy league.
