***Official USMNT Thread***

Bruce was brought in to qualify, he gone.

By the time they get back to qualifying Weah, and Carrelton will be playing with Pulisic. This is the last you will see of everyone except Pulisic and Yedlin, maybe Acosta if he develops AND GOES TO EUROPE.

I can't believe US Soccer put pushing the MLS in front of you know, being a good National Team. Its why JK was never loved by the Brass, he knew it was an inferior league and didn't care about the money.

Mad here, but the first thing I thought of is we are basically texas football. We probably have the best collection of talent in the region outside of Mexico, but for some reason the management and the tactics and the various other political agendas get in the way so at times we're capable of overwhelming teams but also unable to get a simple result against a far inferior opponent.

So the solution is to hire away the coach from your small neighboring country that's had success in one round of qualifying and hoping that solves all your problems? Who fits that bill in international soccer?

Welp I guess I get to cheer for Lionel Messi in the World Cup at least. Still looking forward to it even without the USA.

The future. So good. Hope he gets out of MLS ASAP he needs to be training day in and day out with top coaches and players.

Can soccer people explain to me why even mismatched games are so low scoring? Like pretend its Brazil vs Ivory Coast ... why wouksmt it be 10-1 or something....

So for someone who watches zero soccer:
How bad is the US? I really don't care about or follow soccer but I play FIFA (no clue how that makes any sense) and will root for the US in anything.

Imagine Kansas basketball not qualifying for any postseason tournament. By this I mean the US has the $'s, facilities and talent to qualify from the region for the World Cup every single time. Something is messed up somewhere in the program.

they have players camped in front of the goal and slow play down.

It's somewhat similar in basketball when a coach slows the tempo down and limits opponents fast break opportunities.

Anyone remember that epic Paul Allen rant when Minnesota got beat in the playoffs with Brett Favre? That is exactly what I feel like with this. You could tell he was angry but calm and slowly evolved into yelling over the radio.

Who’s everyone routing for then in Russia? I’m back in the Iceland bandwagon, so they’ll probably end up in the GOD.

this is going to hurt US Soccer so much
It depends on what you mean by "hurting" US soccer. The USMNT is going to be the laughing stock for a little bit on the international front, but I think soccer is going to improve quite a bit in this country over the next decade. Many parents (including my wife) are freaking out about CTE and concussions in football, so they'll be steering their kids towards soccer and other sports. It's a pretty huge increase in the talent pool.
