***Official USMNT Thread***

Not sure if all you midwest USMNT followers saw the announcement, but the US will be playing one of their Gold Cup group stage matches in KC this summer on July 13. Their other group stage matches will be in Frisco, TX on July 7 and Foxborough on July 10.

The U20's are currently playing the 2015 CONCACAF Championship which serves as the qualifying tournament for the U20 World Cup. Their 2nd match is today against Panama and will be on Fox Sports 2 at 4:30 central. Their first match ended in a 1-1 draw against Guatemala. They controlled most of that match, but Guatemala managed to equalize in the 90th minute with a ridiculous volley off a corner.

In non-USMNT related news, Mexico's U20s apparently need a challenge as they have been spending far too much time practicing goal celebrations.

Our U20 team sucks right now.

Also two interesting bits of news coming out of the Transfer Silly season.
Mix Diskerud has signed with New York City FC. Good for him, I don't think he had alot of good options in Europe.
Jozy Altidore could be joining Bradley at Toronto FC. Why? I know that means he wouldn't be a benchwarmer but why? He had alot of options in Europe still in my opinion.

Jurgen has to have punched a huge hole in the walls of his officie given all this recent USMNT mass moving to MLS right now.

3-5-2 was interesting to see out of the US. I like the idea of having the formation in our play book especially against some of the CONCACAF competition who will just go out and bunker against the US.

US Women are playing today in France, Morgan is back in the lineup. Solo is out. Game is on ESPN2 right now

The US Men are playing Panama today in a friendly at 3:55 PM ET on ESPN

And a nice combination from Zardes to Dempsey. Sick touch by Clint:

By the way,

It's sounding very likely that the MLS could be heading into a lockout all because of the players wanting free agency (which they should) and MLS not wanting that.

Perfect time for NASL to capitalize if that happens.

Didn't see it posted, but Nike unveiled the new away kit for the USMNT and USWNT for 2015.

Gotta say I really like it, way more than the bomb pop.

The USMNT has 2 more friendlies coming up in Europe. They play Denmark on Wednesday (March 25) and then face Switzerland in Zurich on March 31. Yarbrough and Alvarado are the 2 interesting names that have been called in by Klinsmann. Here's the whole roster:

GOALKEEPERS (3): Cody Cropper (Southampton), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake), William Yarbrough (Leon)

DEFENDERS (8)
: Ventura Alvarado (Club America), John Anthony Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Timny Chandler (Eintracht Frankfurt), Greg Garza (Club Tijuana), Michael Orozco (Puebla), Tim Ream (Bolton), Brek Shea (Orlando City SC), DeAndre Yedlin (Tottenham Hotspur)

MIDFIELDERS (8):
Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Julian Green (Hamburg), Miguel Ibarra (Minnesota United FC), Fabian Johnson (Borussia Monchengladbach), Alfredo Morales (Ingolstadt), Danny Williams (Reading), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy)

FORWARDS (4):
Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders), Aron Johannson (AZ Alkmaar), Rubio Rubin (Utrecht)

Yarbrough and Alvarado are interesting in that they were both internationally eligible for the US and Mexico. Yarbrough is the son US missionaries who was born in Mexico and has basically spent his whole life there. He plays for Leon in Liga MX and has led his club to back-to-back league titles.

Alvarado was born in Phoenix but left the US as a teenager to pursue a professional career in Club America's academy.

There's a chance that neither of these guys becomes a regular contributor to the USMNT, but at worse, it's a good move to include them in the US player pool for depth. It's also good to see Johannsson back in good health & in camp.
