I get it but it is like basketball, if it is a foul 2 minutes in, it's a foul at the end. If the same thing occurred near the center line, it's a handball. Have to call it no matter where it occurs. Players, over the years, almost perfected getting away with that garbage but with VAR that is really playing with fire.

But a handball at the centerline has a much less stiff penalty. I’m not arguing it shouldn’t have been called in this case. I just don’t like the rule that it’s a PK if there isn’t an attempt on goal.
