***Official Texas Tech prediction thread***

One interesting thing about this game is that the first 4 teams we've played were all primarily running teams, while Tech is definitely a passing team. I would guess that we've been focusing on stopping the run the last three games, and that might have resulted in our pass defense numbers not truly representing the strength of our pass defense.

We expected this team to struggle against the run, but after the egg against UNI, our run defense has actually been pretty decent in the last 3 games allowing 3.6 yards per carry against teams that average 4.4 yards per carry, and holding every one of those below their averages.

Conversely, we expected our pass defense to be pretty good, and it hasn't performed as well as expected. However, I was surprised to see that we've mostly kept the last 3 teams right around their season averages. So there's reason to think that we MIGHT see a significant improvement in our pass defense (relative to Tech's season averages at least), with it being our primary focus this week.

Revenge for the basketball game in Lubbock earlier this year.

I diss agree with your prediction but that's ok this is a cyclone board I expect that. My issue is your comment about revenge for your basketball teams loss. If the TTU BB squad beat ISU that is no ones fault but ISU. Man our team was baaad. Just to make sure it's understood I'm just giving you a hard time good luck to y'all the rest of the season.
TTU 27

I got a chance to watch the Fox No Huddle of the Texas vs. Iowa State game last night. I know I'll probably get some disagreement here, but I thought Sam Richardson interfered with Mike Davis quite a bit and the calls made against him were the right calls late in the game.

Has he been pretty solid in coverage so far? Has he been getting a lot of interference calls?

I ask because Tech has had CB's draped all over our WR's this year and haven't gotten many PI calls to go their way. In fact, I think we've gotten more offensive PI calls than defensive PI calls so far.

The fact the we don't have a Longhorn on our jersey has me worried that we're going to have trouble getting open against y'all and we're not going to get the same calls Texas did.

I thought we might have gotten away with a couple, but for the most part I thought we did a good job getting there when the ball arrived. But my view in the stands wasn't that good. I haven't watched the replay yet.

IMO if you watch "shutdown" cornerbacks, there's a lot of contact going on, and I think we were getting away with the same kind of contact against Texas.

There were definately a couple of PI calls on ISU that were well deserved, at least one that was called where the ball was well out of bounds and as always some "no calls" that could have been called etc.

Our best cover corner is Watson without a doubt, the others have had their issues in pass coverage. Richardson has been fantastic in run support and is a great tackler for a CB especially in the open field.

ESPN allows FOX to edit and replay their games???? That's nearly shocking!

I had a dream last night that we were down 59-10. We came back and got it to overtime, and for some reason I couldn't watch the end so I had to wait for it on Sportscenter and the score never showed. I still don't know how it ended.

Also, I dream in 1999.

Sorry to have to be the one to break it to you, but we lost:

Oh you will get the calls, cause your team is from Texas. Plus I think our conference doesn't like us.

My prediction, killbills avatar wins. Is that real?

She is real.

Considering our revolving issues at QB, I believe Tech is now playing with house money after banking 5 wins. That said, a team letdown is unlikely thanks to Tech students setting another attendance record Saturday to fire-up the team. It's ugly until Coach Kingsbury figures out which QB is "on" but Tech ultimately wins by 2 scores.

Tech 42, ISU 31

Iowa State never gives up that many points. There is a stat floating around about them being with Alabama and someone else on not allowing over 36 points for some crazy amount of time. I see no way a backup quarterback or Mayfield for that matter scores more than 30 on Wally Burnham.

OK, can this trumpeting of the 36 point stat please end? Here's the number of points given up in the last 9 games and the result:

31 vs Texas L
21 vs Tulsa W
27 vs Iowa L
28 vs UNI L
31 vs Tulsa L
31 vs WVU L
23 vs Kansas W
33 vs Texas L
35 vs Oklahoma L

What the heck is magical about 36? 2 games ended up in a win and they were the 2 lowest amounts of points given up. It's that easy. It's weird that someone even figured this out and then quotes it. Really! Stop it!

My prediction: If we score 24+ points, we will win. If we don't score 24+ points, we will lose.
