My dad texted me about this and he said he thought it was clean. Odd bit of skating by eichel before the hit, not sure if he was trying to slip the hit and lost his footing or what.
Looked clean to me. Eichel wasn't a defenseless player being cross-checked into the boards, nor did Tkachuk target his knees or attempt to injure. It just looked bad because Eichel lost his skates right before the hit, one where Tkachuk had already squared up to deliver it. To me that's the equivalent of our football team getting rung up on so many targeting penalties where our player was delivering a clean hit until the other player last second shifted position into the helmet-to-helmet contact.
