***Official Post Liberty Bowl Game Thread***

If I was a player, I would not be going out tonight... Pathetic performance.

Oh and the full on **** going on this board right now is laughable.

ISU Football all time winning percentage = .457

Current Coach Winning Percentage = .470

That next step forward feels a long ways away right now

That makes three out of four loosing seasons for CPR. We keep hearing how CPR is building the program "the right way". It's time for that to start showing up on the field. Today was just flat out embarrassing.[/QUOTE]

Are you kidding me? Do you remember what we came from before Paul Rhoads?! We have appeared in 12 bowl games IN OUR HISTORY. 1/4 of these are under Rhoads in 4 years. That's impressive. The fact that we are complaining about a "losing season" says something. Would you complain about this/ not expect it under McCarney? Under Chizik? That's right, he's raised our expectations. That's a good thing. I'm PROUD to be Cyclone with a 6-7 season. This is how he's going to build, starting with expectations of bowl games every year.

That said, I do think he needs to work on how he prepares for bowl games. However, I think he's using the bowl practice to BUILD for next year. Roharch got more snaps than any other QB. That's how you build aprogram. Not just worrying about the bowl win, but using the extra practice time to build a program for the future.

I think the frustration is that we seem to lay our biggest turd when the whole country is watching...with the exception of OKST. A lot of the games during the season, if you don't care about ISU, you're watching something else so we can sneak one out in the corner. During bowl week, we were the only game on (other than straddling GATech and USC) so we're squatting square on center stage.

Last part...Rohach? You mean Richardson?

No he didn't

No, i mean Rohach was getting more snaps than Richardson. Wait, I think I might be wrong... but I think they spent a lot of time with him in December: Rohach making the most of bowl practice reps | News | Football | Cyclone Fanatic

Also, if you heard CPR this week, still sounded like he wasn't too excited about Richardson. I think he knows that Rohach is the future.

Any one sick of the zone reads that are so slow to develop. Need to pick a qb and stick with it. Mess needs to go, or we need open up the offense. Throw down field. quick outs and slow zone reads are just not going to cut it.

Listen to the postgame on Cyclones.com. PR not happy, nor should he be. Will be interesting to see if anything changes.

In before the Arkansas State "we would have made it a much better bowl game" post.

...too bad games don't last just one quarter of what they really do.

How about we spend a few series running the I, with Woody as the I-Back, and just pound the crap out of them? Wear them out. Our best runner got 10 carries today, that just point to the fact that we have no offensive identlty. And what worries me more were a couple quotes from CPR that sounded GMAC-esque. He was talking about "the offensive plan depending on the opponent". Forget that. Find out what we can do, then run that over and over. We just throw crap on the wall and see what sticks.

That **** right there. holy ******* crap I hate the spread. We are a BCS conference team and we should be the team imposing our will on teams like ******* Tulsa. Good lord. Embarassing.

Due to scheme and lack of talent, we have little ability to overcome plays that get the offense off schedule. Yet, because of scheme and lack of talent, we have a lot of plays that get us off schedule. The offense needs to change.

My goodness the offensive line was very, very soft today. Did some good in pass protection early but seemed to tire quicky despite the small number of snaps and just got manhandled for 40 minutes. As has become typical, our receivers didn't do much to help a young QB who was clearly not physically 100%. Richardson looked sickI'm so glad this corps of receivers is done at ISU with the exception of Lenz. I won't be forced to watch these guys bail out on routes, get alligator arms, not get their feet under them to make a catch or go vertical/dive to make a play. I'm watching all these other bowl teams with guys who aren't Lilliputians who can actually make leaping/diving catches and make grabs where the ball is thrown a little high, low or behind them. They can actually get open versus press coverage and make a guy miss on bubbles and tunnels and get positive yardage. Richardson took that big shot in the second quarter and, combined with his flu, was just not going to get it done after that. He wasn't 100% clearly.

While, the offense clearly folded the tent early, I thought the defense wasn't very good either. Their OL generally pushed us around in the trenches and the LB play was wildly inconsistent. Knott was really a huge difference maker for us, but our DL grabbed ankles a lot today in the run game and made dumb penalties at critical times. They played well at times but not good enough to win overall despite getting a defensive TD.

Special teams play wasn't up to par and I generally thought we lost the field position battle.

I'm really hopeful that something happens to turn the offensive unit around, because I'm not very excited about our prospects in a status quo/stay the course scenario. I still think the most prominent issue for the year was a soft OL and poor pass game. The run game suffered too because of the lack of a need for the defense to play honest and could just flood a zone or send an extra LB. We MUST get the blitz/flood pickup squared away - it's simply embarrassing to have our OL simply clueless about this after close to three years.
