***Official Post Liberty Bowl Game Thread***

This game was the perfect capper for a season of missed oppotunities.

Bad defense throughout the Big 12 and ISU couldn't capitalize because of inept offense for the fourth year in a row. And then getting whooped by a minor conference BCS team in a minor bowl.

That makes three out of four loosing seasons for CPR. We keep hearing how CPR is building the program "the right way". It's time for that to start showing up on the field. Today was just flat out embarrassing.

Well I can't say that this result surprises me as we were way too simple scheme wise all year and Tulsa was a good team. Although I really wanted to boycott the bowl game just because of the sponsor and a crappy rematch. Autozone is a terrible company that will be bankraupt in a few years to due to some scumbag investors (E. Lampert) and a board that sold them out to make themselves a bunch of money. Fitting I guess, but hopefully we can correct our mistakes (cough hiring our new OC cough).

*The loss has nothing to do with Steele Jantz. I have no idea what people will do next year when he is gone, who will you ***** about? We have enough evidence to suggest that Steele was not the only problem the last two years. That is clear and cannot be argued.

*Why are our QB's not getting any better? Why do we look so good on offense the first 15 or 25 plays that are scripted, then suck the rest of the game? Same guy coaches offense that coaches the QB's. Looks like we have about 6 plays, and after the first quarter we just sort of randomly run them.

*Why is the O line play not good enough after people saying this was the best line we have had in 4 years? Why is the O line being dominated by a CUSA D line.

*9 first downs? Seriously? How is that even possible. Tulsa knew exactly what was coming. You have ZERO chance to win with that. Even a good defense would have no chance with that.

*Tulsa never panicked and never abandoned the run. The defense made 5 or 6 stops in a row to end the half and to begin the second half. Tulsa never went away from it. Well coached, well designed game plan, they know what they are good at.

*The defense, while not playing well, gave up 31 points and actually scored 7. That should be good enough to give a decent offense a chance against a CUSA opponet. Also, the defense made some adjustments after getting gashed in the first half to at least give the offense a chance. Offense did nothing. Defense obvisoulsy has some major major holes to fill next season. I am extrmemly concerned about all areas of the defense without Jake McD, Jake Knott, Givens, and AJ it could be very scary. I don't see a lot of guys ready to step up and fill those shoes based on what I saw today, or at any point this year.

*Defense was still not good, but they never had a chance either. there was no question what Tulsa was going to do, and they whipped our *** even when we knew what was coming.

* A month to prepare and we get this? Especially on offense. Horrific performance. Hard to believe how outcoached we are on the offensive side of the ball, and it has been a recurring theme.

Shame on me, I forgot how inept this offense was, I was hoping with a month of and 15 practices it might be better, instead it is worse.

PR will right the ship, but this was really bad, and that makes two really bad outings in a row with losing at home on Senior Day vs WVU and now this mess.

Extremely disappointed in that effort and execution. Terrible all the way around. 2 nice plays. Otherwise a dismal effort by everyone involved. That's really not what you do for a fanbase that went all in on the bowl.

Agree totally. There probably was two, but the only play that sticks out to me was the Brun TD. The Tulsa coaching staff has to be thanking the football gods that our play calling was so terrible. To say 'that was a nice call' only once during the whole game makes me wonder what Mess was doing in all those pre-bowl meetings.

CPR had a golden opportunity last year to start righting the ship through the hire of the offensive coordinator. We know how that turned out. In present day college football, you don't get a lot of chances to right the ship. He needs to start making his chances and corrections count...

3 straight losing seasons is pathetic... losing faith.... bad loss at home to TT and wvu now this

Good luck getting this many Cyclone fans to come to the next bowl game....or the one after that......

It's gonna be a long time before this many folks decide to put their confidence in this team in a game like this again. I'm trying to think of a bigger turd laid by this program in a more winnable big game. We all know the CU game in 2010 was a HUGE turd, but it wasn't really a "big game," per se. This was awful, and we as fans had to sit through miserable conditions to watch an even more miserable product on the field.

This is gonna be a long ******* drive home tomorrow.

I feel almost exactly the same after the Pinstripe Bowl, excited for our quarterback and team. We were favored and lost, and it wasn't close - and I am drinking heavily as the result. The QB tried his best, but we are the same point as last season. Who is the QB to lead us? They all show flashes but no consistency. One good game, one 100% reversal. Maddening....Happy New Years everybody. Big 12 is 3-3 and hope Ok St., OK., and KSU come through.

So is it that we have had so many bad qb's in the past four years or is the crap-stain of an offense we run? It seems more likely to me that it is the offense.

This is the kind of performance that ESPN guys make fun of while setting up REAL bowl games with REAL football teams. 6-6 teams and bowl games.... Nice vacation but geez.....

In 2012 we had three, 3* QBs who just couldn't get the job done. Quite a coincidence. Like it or not, this is now a QB driven sport. The purists will preach to me about O Line play and WR seperation and I get that. But this team needs a trigger man that makes plays. We see flashes like OK State last year, Tulsa game 1, TCU, Baylor, KU and we know what can be. Instead for the bulk of the season we see wasted posession after wasted posession. Watching this team most games makes you want to gouge your eyes out.

I had a sick feeling about this game today after seeing Syracuse dismantle WV Saturday. Our offense put up 24 against that really bad defense at home in a game with a lot on the line. I wanted to believe this staff could put together a game plan and develop this young QB some more leading up to this bowl, but I had four years of evidence to show me otherwise. This head coach needs to get involved on the offensive side of the ball or he is going to see the program backslide quickly. I know we'll all come back here in a few days and rationalize this loss away and start dreaming about the next best thing at QB (#14?). I won't buy any of the hype until the root cause is addressed.

Yeah, this needs to be addressed somehow. I think PR will figure it out. Still a young coach, but he needs to fix this fast. Have seen it too many times where this stuff just festers and it gets out of control and eventually leads to the head coaches down fall. We are many years from that with PR, I love the guy, but he needs to get this offense turned around.
