NFL: ***Official Offseason Thread***

Hold on. How is this the Chiefs' fault? He's a grown man and they gave him a second chance. He blew it and last night the Chiefs announced Hill is not allowed at team activities. The Chiefs acted swiftly in cutting Kareem Hunt too. At some point the fault is on the players.
Everything is the Chiefs' fault because they suck and their fans suck, but specifically I meant **** them if they don't get rid of him, I see how it was very confusing the way it was written though. But it has been known for some time that Hill is a piece of **** and it didn't seem to bother the Chiefs all that much.

It might not be their fault, but you can't deny they have a PR problem to deal with. Kareem Hunt, then Tyreek Hill, and they just traded for and handed a megadeal to another guy with domestic violence allegations in his past. I thought immediately banning him from offseason workouts was a good start but they need to move quickly on this, establish that the recording is legit and not doctored, and cut his ass ASAP.
The recording thing is so weird. There are allegations it's fake but also if it is real how stupid is the chick now too. Yes Tyreek looks absolutely terrible but the wife looks bad now too. Quoted on the tape that she lied to the cops and that she also hits the kid. Big yikes all around.

Yeah, the wife looks bad too. The NFL team she's employed by should cut her as well.

Those thinking it's fake are just grasping at straws, though.

As I understand it she secretly recorded the conversation and then sent it to a friend for safe keeping, and then the friend either shared it with someone else or sent the tape to the news affiliate because they were worried about the child's well-being. I agree that the recording doesn't make either Hill or his fiance look like a Parent of the Year candidate.

At the very least, I don't think Hill suits up for the Chiefs this year. Whether he's suspended or on the commissioner's exempt list, I don't think he's playing a down in 2019. It will probably take a significant mea culpa on Hill's part to have a chance keeping his career.

How stiff is the punishment for child abuse and lying to the cops? He might have bigger problems than when/if he'll play football again.

My only issue with the team cutting him is it turns into a similar situation as Kareem Hunt. Original team has to cut him due to public outcry. New team signs him with little to no backlash. All that was accomplished here is the Chiefs making a competitor better. The NFL needs to step up here like they did with Ray Rice by sending a signal Hill won't be playing anywhere.

Yeah, but why should the Chiefs be concerned with what happens after they cut him? They can't control what the league does or the other teams do. But they can control how they want to handle a situation where it looks like one of their players with a history of domestic violence broke his three year old son's arm.
It's not complicated. Check the recording. Once you'e comfortable that it hasn't been doctored or altered, cut his ass loose and whatever happens after that happens.

Today is the first day teams can sign free agents without them counting against the compensatory pick formula. So some high profile names still out there could be signed soon.
