NFL: ***Official NFL Draft Thread***

This is a story to keep an eye on, too. Collins was projected as a mid to late first rounder, but with this hanging over his head some teams might take him off their draft board entirely. I should note that he's not been named a suspect, but it's weird that he and his lawyer didn't arrange a meeting with police prior to tonight so he could get his name cleared.

Has there been a draft where this many top prospects have effed themselves over this much before?

It seems much more prevalent this year than most. Maybe with twitter and instant news we just hear about everything now. I don't think college players have gotten that much stupider lately.

Looking forward to what the Vikings do. Rick has done well the past couple drafts IMO. There are a number of things they could do that I would be very happy with.

Cleveland will **** everything up again. Like always.

Really hope they don't trade up to get Mariota. I think he's gonna be a bust, IMO. I'd be okay with staying put and hoping for Amari Cooper after the loss of Cameron and Gordon. My expectations are incredibly low after last year. I got a little too excited about the Browns preseason last year.

Hate to break it to you, but there's no way in hell that Amari Cooper drops to the Browns at 12. I wish it were true, because it would mean that my Vikings would have a chance at him, but he's going to be gone way before then. There are way too many teams that need WR help in front of Cleveland for him to drop that far. Jacksonville, Oakland, Jets, Chicago, St. Louis, Minnesota all might have need for a receiver, and Cooper's way too good to drop to 12.

He's guilty of something OR his agent is going to cost him millions.

Either way, after the past 24 months - no NFL team is going to take him round 1, maybe not until round 3/4

You see, this right here is your problem. You are a Browns fan. You should know better than to get excited. The Browns might be the only organization in sports that has had a bigger need for nutcups than ISU has in the past.

Who's got the better coverage? NFL network or ESPN?

I prefer NFL Network by a large margin. Far less fluff, and more analysis. Mayock is as good or better than either Kiper or McShay, and there's the added bonus of no Berman.
That said, I'll still have Espn.com up on my laptop for their pick by pick analysis, and they usually have a good updated ticker from many of the talking heads' twitter accounts. CBS website also has good instant analysis

Thanks. I think last year was the first year I actually sat down and watched portions of it. I flipped on NFL network because I assumed they were more on topic with real analysis and less "show J. Football's reaction to every pick he got snubbed on" type of stuff. Just curious if there was any truth to my assumption.

This is generally what I have found to be the case

Only thing I don't like about NFL Network is they know who's getting picked before Goodell announces which takes away a lot of the excitement

Espn has that too, but starting last year, both networks stopped announcing the picks ahead of Goodell. And this year they've even taken it a step further and asked their correspondents to refrain from breaking the news on twitter as well. That goes for both nfl network and espn

Multiple teams have removed LSU's OL La'el Collins from their draft board. In one week, has gone from potential 1 to off some boards.

I don't think any team is going to take on something that could blow up in their faces that badly unless they're reasonably confident that he won't eventually become a suspect. Suppose a team drafted him and a week later he was charged with murder. There's a really good chance he goes completely undrafted. Which means that (among other things more important than football) if he cooperates with the police and nothing comes of it, some team is going to get one hell of a bargain as a rookie free agent.

I'd bet he doesn't go undrafted. My money would be on a team like SF or NE taking him in the 5-7th rounds if he's available. More likely SF than NE due to the Aaron Hernandez situation NE went through though. SF likes value picks and if he's clean, he would be one heck of a value pick that late.

Someone will throw away a 5th round pick for him.

SO is no stranger to scrutiny with the Ray McDonald and Aldon Smith situations in the recent past. They may not be in a hurry to bring on another guy with baggage.
