MLB: ***Official MLB Postseason Thread***

This little quip from Jim Souhan in the Star Tribune sort of annoyed me a little.

"Tanaka finished the season with a 4.45 ERA. If you are the greatest home run-hitting team in baseball history, you should be able to manage Tanaka’s slop."

I think throwing shade at a guy with a 1.50 ERA in post season play is sorta misdirected frustration. It's no secret he has struggled some with his grip with the "new" baseball but was also pretty good in some big games this year with an ERA that got bloated by some brutal outings. His issues were with lost grip and stuff high in the strike zone getting homered. When he had his grip and control low in the zone there weren't the killer homers.

Saw this clip below and at first thought Sano looked bad in the at bat but looked again and thought the first two were strikes and would have been called strikes. The third had to look just the same. Thought these were great pitches more than a failed at bat. Take those and he is at best sitting 1-2. You might dig a fastball out of that zone (maybe) but not a good slider.

I don't know how the Twins won 100 games. White Sox, Tigers, and Royals really inflated our egos.

If Yanks closeout the series with the Twins (not counting chickens before they are hatched) I think I'll need to buy a parrot. Going to need all of that and more to get by da Astro's.

First things first though, hope Severino has his command and sharp breaking stuff tonight. Don't want to feed a fastball hitting club like the Twins a steady diet of fastballs.

Twins load bases with no out down one in the bottom of the second.

They don't score.

I'd be frustrated if I weren't already numb.

Severino's velocity is great. His control is absolutely horrendous.

I wouldn't be sad if that was his last pitch. He's playing with fire and somehow hasn't gotten burned.

It's like April for Severino after being out all year and only three short outings in September. I am guessing the 4th is his last inning. Would probably see German next if he hadn't got himself suspended.

The Twins deserved to win that one.

Anytime they hit something solid it was right at someone yet Stanton gets a hit with a sand wedge.

The Braves' veteran players that you lean on and expect to come through for the team this time of year have been laughably horrendous vs St Louis.
Markakis, McCann, Donaldson, and Freeman have combined to go 9 for 61 with 3 RBIs and 14 strikeouts. Can't have that in October.

Death, taxes, Atlanta Braves choking in the postseason.

Dont worry, they will go 12 for 16 tomorrow

It's been kind of a bizzarro series, the Cards were one of the best defensive teams in the league all season but have fallen apart this series. It's almost like neither team wants to win this.
