three of ten wrestlers in wrestlebacks - one of which may be done for the tourney. all ten iowa wrestlers still active in the top bracket. very very close to done.

Why do the middlands count for anything. It seems like we should only really care about the National Title in this sport. The midlands seem to me like the preseason NIT. Who really cares? I just don't know wrestling that well. Please explain why this tourny is so big.
You have to remember that they are scoring points with two guys at 133 and 141. At nationals, they will have to score with their 157 and 197 lbers. It is highly unlikely that their 157 even makes the tournament.
And there are others wrestling that won't be at nationals.
But, we aren't doing the best right now.
And, stepping back, any school except Iowa would love to be in our "horrible" position.
So why didn't we put 2 guys at a weight. Seems pretty smart by Iowa to me, excuse me I have to go to the bathroom and puke for saying that now.
You pick 10 wrestlers that score for the team before the meet starts. Our best 10 are our starters at each weight. That is not the case for Iowa. They are very weak at 157 and injured at 197. Only the Midlands has their scoring like this. The national tournament does not allow you to choose whatever 10 you please.
We do have two wrestlers that are wrestling unattached (meaning they are our wrestlers but not scoring points for the team) in the round of 8 (Jensen, Simonson).
I know a lot of you guys are ready to throw in the towel but this is far from over. Tonight's quarterfinal round is huge, as always. We will definitely need some help but we're only down 5 points. If Burk is out for the remainder of the tourney, that IS a huge blow and may do us in.
Yea, hopefully he's able to continue on in the tourney. I'm just too upset with Big Z right now.
It sounded like the other guy was just hanging on. Z took all the shots so I'm not sure I can be too upset with him. He has come out on the right end of those scores 95% of the time throughout his career.
