***Official Men's Basketball National Championship Game Thread***

I don't like seeing too many upsets the first couple of days because no upsets makes for better weekend games.

They were pushing WVU around for awhile. Getting tired of the announcers who are practically rooting for Bucknell. My question is this, did the ACC only get 8 teams in the dance or are they 2-0 so far. CBS displayed the later.

It's happened twice in the last 9 years that a 12 didn't beat a 5. It's not something that HAS to happen, although that is the common thought.

Also saw an interesting analysis from a guy at GopherHole showing that the 5-12 upset isn't that sure of a bet when it's a low or mid major playing against a high major as the 5 seed. The win percentage drops to ~25%. However when the high major is the 12 seed, the upset occurs much more frequently, closer to 75%. So basically the statistical significance of always picking a 5/12 upset is only really strong when the 12 seed is a high major type opponent.

It'd be ironic if Minnesota ended up being a 5 seed loser though lol.

It'd sure make that 25% number accurate this year though.

I'm intrigued. I always thought that everything higher than 11 was basically reserved for the non-high major schools.
