They actually have given something it's called having one of the longest home winning streaks in the country. Also 3/4 of the people on here before this game tonight were talking about how we were contenders in the big 12 and talking about how high of a seed we were going to get in march. To now their all ******** bricks and talking about how much we suck (just like last year after Drake) and there were people like you saying we had ton of talent but we had no team chemistry and how Royce and the rest of the transfers would NEVER play well with each other because they would never build chemistry with each other. Then everybody was asking who the leader was on the team and how we didn't have one. People were freaking out way to much and forgetting that the game of basketball is a streaky game and that it matters when you get hot and when you get cold. Honestly I'd rather have to dip our heads in cold water to wake our guys up against TT than against KSU at home. Actually we were finally looking like we were finding out how to play with each other as a team up until tonight so now I believe this is the time when our true leader steps up and shows himself to get us to play to our potential. It happened last year and it will happen this year. Everybody take a deep breath and relax because if we are all this angry imagine how the players feel right now and they will use their emotions as fuel to push them to the next level. Believe me that's what athletes do. Don't tell me the bull**** about how they don't care because the last time I checked nobody like's losing. The players have talent. But from everything that's been said here, they have struggled to play as a team. That leads to poor performances (and there's been a number of those for ISU this year, even in winning efforts), and you see it at every single level.
2004 Olympic team had more talent than any other team in the world. They had lousy chemistry and took the bronze (appalling by American standards).
2012-13 Lakers. Nuff said.
You can see it with Iowa, too. At times, their ball movement is great and they have consistent success when they keep that up. But then they get to dribbling around a lot, with Marble playing too much isolation. And that's when the Hawks go into one of their scoring droughts. It's like clockwork.
As for the fans; the team's got to give them SOMETHING. I'd support the Hawkeyes through thick and thin, but expecting your fans to be amped after putting out an effort like this isn't fair to the fans.
It's one thing to lose valiantly. It's completely different to look disinterested. And I don't think I need to have seen the game to know that's how they looked tonight. That's pretty much the only way a team with as much individual talent as ISU has can lose to a team this bad.
Also how can you compare this team to the lakers? One of the biggest problems that the lakers have is that their too old and that they are way to injury prone. The last time I checked ISU doesn't have either of those things holding them back. Also the lakers have to deal with the egos of kobe, Howard, Pau, and Steve Nash because they all want the ball in their hands 24/7 because their superstars. Also the 2004 Olympic was an All Star team and had only played with each other once before that in a real tournament. Compared to the last two Olympic teams where they play multiple tourney's/exhibition games each summer. Also you have to deal with all the superstar and divas egos. So don't compare those two teams to ISU. Nuff said. The players have talent. But from everything that's been said here, they have struggled to play as a team.
