*** OFFICIAL ISU-WVU Postgame Thread ***

WV may not be very good but they play tough D and are physical, things this team struggles with. I am glad to have that game done. I was worried going in about how the style they played. ISU played too fast in the first half also.

lol saying the showboating needs to stop for Niang. We have fans building giant Niangs, which I love! Fans help build a big head so don't blame the kid.

Lucked out in that one folks. I don't know how we can look so good one game, and so horrible the next?

WV is not a good team. In fact, they are pretty much terrible. No reason this should have come down to this. Yes, they shot out of their minds and the refs tried to screw us over good, but it still shouldn't have come down to the end.

Our guys never really were into this game from the very beginning. I don't know why? VERY lucky to win. We can't play like that against anyone else and expect to win. We've still got a lot of work to do to be a tourney team. We certainly weren't tonight for whatever reason?

Styles of play by the opposing team is how you can look so good one game and not the next. We didn't get too many open 3's tonight.

Coach Hoiberg once again waits for large leads to dissolve into very close games before taking a timeout when he has four to burn! Also there could easily have been a foul called after the last inbound pass by W.V. and just fortunate it was not called. A cannot imagine other coaches watching big leads dissolve late in the game without calling a timeout. This should not have been this close of a game, but when you watch loosely gaurded threes roll in one after the other, you get your teams attention to defense.
I agree...Fire him.

You're right. You should totally be our coach instead

I disagree. I think the reason our guys seemed down was that they went 0-12 or something from inside the arc to start...kinda hard to get rolling when you get no points dropping in. Reminded me a lot of the Kentucky game last year.

We shot our usual decent clip from 3 in the first half, but the second was a little light.

Clyburn came to play tonight - he'll have at least one of those 3 monster dunks on sportscenter.

Glad the boys got the W. I think they build off this and we have a couple of games that we 100% should win (TCU/Tech) on the horizon.

Will you love it when they lose one of these? Hoiberg acts like he gets rollover timeouts that can be used in future games. These are not pros.

We have a coach who comes from the NBA. That league is all about runs that you have to withstand. Personally I love it, it tells you that your coach trusts you and believes you.

Not true. NBA coaches call timeouts all the time to stop scoring runs. Poppovich called 3 timeouts in the first 2 minutes of a game last week. I was surprised Hoiberg played it out. We got the win which is what matters.

Are people serious about the timeouts? I would rather have a team that he is building to be mentally tough and have 3 timeouts at the end for huge moments than use them to try and overcome something that is mental. Teams can try and come back over 18 points, but the fact is they are exerting more energy than us in those runs and we will have more energy in the end. I have absolutely no problem with no TOs being called.

Where else did he need to use a timeout? If the had issues getting the ball down the court on the last poss they would have used the last timeout.

One thing shows just exactly how lazy and not enthused we were tonight... WV's offensive rebounds. I swear every time they got another offensive rebound I was going to throw my remote through the TV screen. That's just being lazy when you don't get defensive rebounds. No excuse for that.
