***OFFICIAL: ISU vs. UNI game(day) thread***

i'm not a fan of the quick threes from hogue, kane, niang or ejim. naz or thomas let it fly.

is it me or does kane not pass to thomas. he's hot tonight - its a joke we're not looking for him.

Why does Ejim have only two points? (hard to imagine what's going on while listening to the radio, but I'm thinking he must be knitting sweaters for the UNI players or something while he's been waiting to get the ball?)

Some of the players having an off night not bothering me, Fred getting out coached is bothering me. They controlled every aspect of game that half.

What makes me nervous is I can't imagine Fred getting upset and yelling at anyone to wake these guys up which is what they need. Maybe Sadler can. Or Ejim. Or Kane. Niang and Ejim, and Hogue need to stop shooting 3's and concentrate on getting boards and getting their opponents in trouble.

Why do we continue to play UNI and Drake? We gain absolutely nothing and more often then not we lose to them, even when they are no better then middle of the pack MVC teams.

"one more pass" is something that comes to mind when we have our best games.

They pass up some shots for a better one. Plus it makes the other team run a little more.

He's getting outworked. UNI's defenders are making sure he doesn't get a free release to get any garbage buckets and in frustration he's chucking up 3s as soon as he sees them open.

It seems like their doubling Niang, so surprised Ejim and Hogue haven't had a better game.

To those who were critical of me for posting my "Get ready for an ugly and frustrating game" thread earlier this week, please try not to melt down too much tonight.
I fully agreed with your thread. Every year I'm hopeful it will change and we just blow UNI out of the water like we should and yet we find ourselves down 13 to UNI and their state subsidized basketball program.

UNI is clogging the lane and double-teaming anyone who gets in the paint. That's normally ok if we're hitting from the perimeter.

My guess is that Doc tried to get too cute when strategizing our defense for this game. Sagging in and not pressuring the perimeter when we have better athletes pretty much backfired on us. I noticed that Fred scrapped that plan with 2 minutes left in the half. You'll see us dial it up the D and defend the perimeter much more in the second half.

We will win the second half, but I fear we may have dug too deep of a hole.

There were tweets saying Fred was irate after one of the timeouts. He can get angry when he has to.
