*** Official ISU vs. Iowa Gameday Thread ***

If it wasn't at Carver I'd be extremely confident. I'm more concerneed with how we play than how Iowa plays. If that makes sense.

I agree 100%. Our talent level is higher than theirs is at this particular point but it is our first true road game and that is always an experiment.

How do you all see the match-ups? Do you have any concerns? I got a couple:

+ White & Oglesby (s?) could give be those players that rise from obscurity to give us troubles.

+ I'm ok with the Marble-Babb match up, but in the couple games I've seen Iowa, Marble has really elevated his game and can go 1-on-1 with anybody.

+ Woodbury / Booker. Hope the refs aren't calling ticky-tac fouls, otherwise Booker may pick up 2-fouls in the first half and have to sit.

SIAP but I'm curious. Heading to Carver-Hawkeye for the game tonight and wondering about parking. Is the lot right next to the arena public? If not, where are good places to park?

Thanks for any help!

Hey CyFan61, I live in Iowa City and I'd recommend parking in one of the hospital ramps and then just walking over. Its only like a 10 minute walk to Carver and you get out pretty fast that way. If you just go to Kinnick stadium, theres two HUGE parking garages across the street. When my friends and I go to Iowa games (I go to school at Iowa) we always park there. It'll end up costing like $5, unless they up it for tonight. Good luck!

We have the talent and experience to win this game by 10+ points, I'm just worried about us coming out slow. If our guys match their intensity in all aspects, we'll win this game.
In the words of Bart Scott: CAN'T WAIT

After seeing how the Twister Sisters played in CHA, I'm a little worried. Road games are worrisome, even in-state. New routine, new floor, new buckets...

I've posted this in another thread but it bears repeating: Kenpom and Sagarin have Iowa winning by 1. Vegas has Iowa winning by 2.5. ISU has never won 4 straight against the Hawkeyes.

I want this one bad! Glad we are playing them early in the year as I think they will get much better than they are now. I was calling for a 15 point win and I'm sticking with it in spite of the computers and experts: 88-73 ISU

Just bought 6 genaral admission tickets for us and the kids. We get to sit behind their student section! Looking forward to it, haven't been in Iowa City for a game since about 1994 (?). I've got a good feeling about this one!

Good luck tonight Cyclones. I still think it's pretty sad, though, that 25 years ago I was able to watch one awesome game between these two teams on local TV. As a 10 year old kid living in the heart of Hawkeye country that was pretty special. Now, my kids will likely never get to see this game.

You don't know anyone who has cable tv or a dish?

I could be over looking something but is Babb the only player on Iowa State's roster that has ever lost to Iowa (while he was at PSU)?

That appears to be correct.

Thought this was interesting. for their careers: Lucious is 5-0 against Iowa. Booker is 0-5 against UNI. (Babb is 2-2 against the hawks.)

I'm expecting a good game. I think both programs are headed back in the right direction, but we're a step or two ahead at this point. Should be fun to watch this rivalry going forward.
It still bugs me that when they extended Frantic Fran's contract they gave him a few more $$/year than Fred's deal. Would love for Fred & us to win again tonight for an unprecedented 4 in a row!
