***Official ISU v.s. Missouri Post Game Thread***

It was a good showing. If we made like half our free throws we win. Hats off to babb though. Awesome d. Just need to make free throws and rebound

We have a coach that can make 200 free throws in a row and we can't learn to at least hit the rim on a free throw shot. Start shooting left handed??

Not to beat a dead horse, but..free throws. Last year, our lack of depth killed us late in games. This year, we can't get the free points. There is no reason we should be shooting 50 ******* percent from the line in a game.

I'm only half joking with my idea to have the players get into a free throw competiton with Fred. They run until he misses.

Obviously Free Throws killed us but very poor offensive execution the last 10 minutes and getting whooped on the boards was the difference. Too much standing and watching led to way too much dribbling/drive from Scottie and the usual poor shot selection from Allen. THe good news is that this team has made huge strides defensively and playing that way is going to keep us in any game the rest of the way. We definitely played well enough to win but Mizzou was just too disciplined on offense down the strecht, hats off to them.

Why the hell did we go to a 2-3 zone when we were within 3 points and give up the wide open 3, when we had been playing fine man defense the whole game. I realize sometimes coaches do that to mix things up but still...

Also, for a stretch there right after Royce had two great buckets, we decide not give him the ball on the post or the wing which had been working perfect. Ratliff was also guarding him and couldn't stop him earlier in the game. I think for us to win some more of these types of games, along with the obvious (free throw shooting) we need to run the offense more through Royce and less through CA.

Free throws.

Very disappointed to lose but the effort was there. We're good but we're not great. As the great Larry Eustachy used to say,"We're probably where we should be but not where we wanna be."

A couple weeks ago I don't think a lot of us, myself included, would have expected us to hang with Mizzou.

Percy not playing was big.

When Royce wheeled down the lane against their two big clods he would have had him to drop it off to.

felt that mizzou made defensive adjustments in the second half and isu did not respond. at one point i wanted to see fred take RW out and let the smaller line up try to score. It seems they lean on RW too much for a guy who airballs free throws more than he makes.

12 missed free throws
Out-rebounded badly by a much smaller opponent
Gave up easy bunnies on defense
You can't win that way.....not even at home

On another note.....Hilton did not seem very loud to me, but then I was watching on TV. It seems like the crowd just is not into it or something.........I don't know. Just not the Hilton Magic I remember.

Outside of Allen and Scotty, this team is terrible all around at the free throw line. This should be the point of emphasis in practice leading up to the KU game. This team has the talent to at least be around at the end with the best teams in this conference. Tonihgt being a night where it showed.

seriously though, Missouri is a top 10 team and ISU would have likely won had they made free throws. ISU may be the 3rd best team in the conference right now.
From what I saw Missouri is not a top ten team. Tournament team, yes, top 10? NO (might be sour grapes). We could have played much better which gives me hope, but we need to beat these likely tournament teams, especially on our home court, if we are going to get to where we want to be.

I questioned that too, but Missouri had been scoring well for several positions, so I can't blame Fred for mixing it up. Just have to execute it if you're going to switch.

I agree with Royce- would have liked to see them run that until Missouri was all fouled out or proved they could stop him.

Anyone else annoyed by the one announcer? Cheap shot comments against the Clones all night...Got a stiffy analyzing Royce's free throw style...Pretty much gave mizzery a blowie all night.

Royce should be ashamed with his free throw shooting effort, especially. Terrible form, chucks up airballs. He needs to be spending an hour with Fred after every practice shooting free throws and learning a better technique.

Didn't mind the announcers, and thought they called it pretty fair. Heck of a lot better than ESPNU.
