Official Iowa vs Purdue Thread

Painter is legit.

He's ok but last night, Fran coached circles around him. He had no adjustment to Iowa's press or Fran's rotation adjustments. I think Purdue is a really good team but don't see the "best team I've seen in awhile" stuff from them. Other than Ivey, their back court is pretty average.

Fran noticed that too, he eventually sat Bohannon, played Ulis and Perkins down the stretch and Iowa had the advantage in quickness and athleticism over Purdue's guards. If Fran makes that adjustment sooner, Iowa may win.

Guard play, specifically PG play will catch up with Purdue eventually.

Went to the last minute didn't it?

I didn't watch it.

Not sure about last minute but close throughout and they hung around both times.

Actually hung with some of the B12's better teams some how. Those teams probably just cruised but they didn't get much separation either.

That's slimmed down?

On a more serious note, he among others surprised me tonight. Fran might polish some of the low 3 and 2 star recruits into decent role players after all. Perkins, ogundele, and the other Murray all brought it tonight against a team with a lot more star power.

I am not at all excited for next Thursday. Not that I think Iowa comes in and blows out the clones, but I am a little disheartened by a positive result for the hawks tonight.

Fran gonna Fran. Lineup rotations have been his cryptonite forever. He found a little lightning in a bottle against Purdue off the bench, but good luck figuring out a consistent rotation moving forward. The 19 point lead Purdue had at one point was more indicative of the talent difference than the final score.

He's a fraud, it's what he does.

Purdue had 17 turnovers. It’s pretty hard to win when you do that. I didn’t watch the whole game but a lot of them I saw were unforced. Iowa is a lot better than I expected them to be this year, though, unfortunately.

Unless I read him wrong......no championships that TJ wants run through Iowa City. Just like football.....conference means everything. You want to win every game possible however in the course of 4 months and 30+ games.....what happens in early December rarely if ever dictates decisions by committee's in March.

Painter is legit.
That was the worst 4 minute stretch of coaching against a very pedestrian press I’ve seen.

The problem Purdue runs into in March is eventually yourun into a good guard dominant team and their big ogres can’t hang.

We won’t beat Iowa…. who are we kidding?

I won’t pick ISU to beat Iowa in football, MBB, WBB, or wrestling until I see it happen.

The weirdest stuff will happen to us even when we should win…. like football this year…. 4 turnovers on our own end of the field…. crazy! The gods hate us!!

I like TJ to have ISU better prepared for the game vs. Prohm as I think the players won't buy too much into the Hok players' antics but they'll have to have a very good night to win.

Seeing a lot of Iowa fans demanding to be ranked after last night.

....That's not how it works after a loss.

NIT runner up was a bigger deal a few years ago to Hok media than winning an NCAA tourney game.

I'm sure that's still a thing.

Perkins barely got more minutes than JorBo. Do not understand why he doesn’t start.

Younger McCafe seems to have jacked a lot of shots for his points. What’s the deal with him, off shooting night or poor shot selection? Half his points from the line, maybe shot affected by fouls or were those phantom?

Glanced a couple times at my phone for updates, looked like the bigs got into foul trouble. May be what caused him to go smaller and quicker.

With Keegan out I had no problem with him taking more shots.

Really happy with the teams performance, when I found out Keegan was out I was thinking it was going to get ugly. They played hard throughout.
