*Official Iowa-ISU Prediction Thread*

Iowa does ok in bowl games. Since Hayden came to Iowa we are 13-15-1. Since Hayden came to Iowa, ISU is 4-5. Basically the same winning %

Iowa's one bowl win in like the last 8 years was against Boston College and their backup QB otherwise they've gotten destroyed. If you want to talk about the 2000's when Kirk was a good coach or Hayden be my guest

Lets rewind a bit and see if I can get you to understand this. Back in 2004 would you rather beat Miami of Ohio in a bowl game or beat Missouri in the regular season?

Bump for @CyTwins curious if you are happy ISU played their best football in the bowl game rather than vs Missouri.

My thoughts on the game.

Never thought this game would be a defensive battle like that. Neither team could run a play very smoothly. I knew if one team could put together a drive, then that would be the deciding factor. Luckily, it was Iowa that did that.

Rose is already a stud. I was really impressed with all game. He didn't play like a low level recruit true freshman. He reminds me of Chad Greenway.

Iowa's offense needs to get better quick. They have always struggled against the 3-4 and Saturday was no different. They won't score a point against Wisconsin in two weeks if their offense can't figure out the 3-4. ISU deserves a lot of credit though too. I thought your dl played great and your LBs were flowing to the ball well. Secondary also played good.

Iowa's defense was lights out after the first drive. I was very impressed with with the entire defense. Iowa came into the season with no experience at LB and now I feel like that is a pretty deep position as Colbert stepped in and played awesome. Going to be hard for Welch to get his job back.

Some bad officiating as usual. I thought it was a clear PI against Fant in the endzone. Payne was pushing the whole way and never once looked back for the ball. I thought the spot they gave Allen was rediculous and was thinking for a minute that could be the difference in the game. Thankfully the Iowa D came up big again and got a stop. They spotted that ball two yards further than it should have been and it should have been 4th and 2. I thought Iowa got away with a PI on the long pass by Zeb.

I still feel that Iowa will go anywhere from 7-5 to 9-3. This team is good, but without an offense, they will not be able to get over the hump and beat Wisconsin and win the west.

I feel that ISU can still make a bowl game, but that cancelled game might cost them that chance.

See trolls, this post what this forum 'should' be about. Sprinkled in with some good ribbing. Not this endless bantering on about inconsequential esoteric nonsense.

Iowa made good adjustments after the first drive or so. ISU was incredibly stubborn and kept trying the same failing formula basically all game (which scares me, because I thought last season that in-game adjustments were one of our stronger points most of the time).

I said as soon as it happened that ISU not getting a TD on that first drive was a sign of bad things. When you have a first and goal from the 2, you have to get the job done. It's a matter of confidence and momentum, if nothing else.

We have to find offense fast, or we're gonna have a bad time. We have a lot of strong teams coming on the next few weeks, our conference schedule is very front-loaded, yet we're two* weeks in and didn't take a step forward on offense yet. That's gotta change. Our defense played through multiple s***ty scenarios in Saturday and generally came out positively, they wholly and entirely did their job. We should be winning games if we hold opponents in the teens, instead, we got a FG on the first drive and then didn't even sniff the endzone for the next 50 game minutes.

Our offensive performance was all-around unacceptable. Poor O-Line play for the majority of the game, poor playcalling, generally poor execution. Similar to last season, it appears that our defense will put us in position to hang around and win games -- problem is, we didn't see enough offense Saturday to actually win. We don't need to hang 40+PPG, but we have to at least get into the mid-20's most games. That shouldn't be much to ask.

If ISU plays their best game against Missouri what happens next?

Does it matter? Just to win your division and play for a conference title is a better reward for a season than beating Miami of Ohio in a bowl game.

I know-just as dumb as the stupid **** you post on a regular basis.
So you are posting stupid things because you disagree with what I posted? I hope you are getting help for your mental disability or drug problem.

We prepped for one week. Iowa is the one who prepped for us all off-season.

Where did you see that Iowa was prepping for ISU all off season? Please don't tell me you are taking @CyTwins word for that. Speaking of @CyTwins do you agree that you would rather win a bowl game over going to a conference championship game?

Play our best football game for Mizzou, then get shelled in the Big 12 title game and a bowl game? That doesn't sound so fun

ISU is probably lucky that you aren't the coach then. I can hear you right now motivating the team in the off season talking about your epic bowl battle with Miami of Ohio, and how you need to train hard to prepare for that day. **** the Big 12 conference, we be prepping for the MAC!

ISU beat a top 20 team on their home field last year in their bowl game. Derp

I would rather win both. I think most the time, I would want to win a conference championship, but I also wouldn't want to lose a bowl game every year. It also depends on the bowl game. I would take a Fiesta Bowl win, but I don't care as much about a Pinstripe bowl for example. Also depends on the conference. A Big 12 conference championship would trump just about anything, but a Big 10 West championship is basically meaningless.

I think we are done, you have made it clear you would rather beat an AAC opponent on their home field than play for Big 12 titles. Even @1976 is willing to take a troll to this extent, so congrats on being "pot committed" on this one.

I think 99.9% of fans would rather play for a conference championship over playing a AAC team on their home field for a bowl game.

Pinstripe bowl sucked really. I'd have rather played in a better bowl game and lost again than beat a nothing team like Memphis......oops I mean BC. Lets be honest, (I know @CyTwins won't be honest, but I think you will be) both bowl opponents sucked last year, we all know it.
