You're completely wrong, McCarney used onside kicks in at least 2 games against Iowa if not more. Also against Nebraska as well.

I might be wrong but I seem to remember an onside kick from Coach Mac one year....maybe I'm just getting old?

I know that he called it at least once against Iowa. He also called an onside on the opening kickoff against Nebraska, and it paid off.

We had 6.5 vs. 2.5 on the on-side kick....slow mo TiVo shows Zitek really screwed that play up. Irrelavent due to the off sides....but the play was definately there. That said, not sure I would have done it.
