***Official Game Day Thread - ISU vs. Nebraska***

Give up too many offensive rebounds
Too many stupid fouls in the last 5 minutes
DG....only 3 assists....5 turnovers....not a good night, even with 18 points

They just need to learn to play smarter and with DG, JVB and SC's experience in Big 12 they should by now.

This is not a team that knows how to slow it down and eat clock to protect a lead in the closing minutes. Can't have DG just dribbling around there out on top. Need something better.

We have the ball with 6 seconds left out of bounds, and we get the ball stolen and we foul with .4 remaining and they get 2 shots making one for the win. That's an ISU-style loss right there. We somehow find the most heartbreaking ways to lose.

To go on, we led 62-58 and let Nebraska score the last 5 points to win. I believe we had that lead with 1:30 to go. Tough to swallow.

With that being said, once I get past the heartache of a loss like that, I'm really proud of the way we played. 7 guys deep is all we are which is a HUGE disadvantage, especially for the way we try to play and yet we had our shot to win. We shot better percentage-wise than Nebby in FG's, 3's, and FT, but they attempted 11 more FTs and I don't know the exact stats on turnovers, but it can't look good for us I imagine.

All you can do sometimes is smile at our bad luck and move onto the next one.

No kidding. Not saying the refs did a bad job (few calls at end I disagreed with), but Hartzell has absolutley owned us. I called it as soon as I heard his name called at the beginning of the broadcast.

Should have never been allowed to call our games when Greg was here.
 
I understand the slow game the last two minutes,but run sets that score you points to put the game away, I hate losing to Nebraska especially in basketball!!!

DG is the driver of this team. He made some bad decisions in the last 2 min. Add that to some poor decisions from a true freshmen in Ejim and we now are probably out of the NIT. My expectations just dropped from 7 conference wins to 4. We will finish 17-14 regular season. That isn't too bad for the depth we have. It is great that FH got us off to the start we did and got my expectations up though.

On a positive note IMO Godfrey had some solid minutes and showed he can have some solid Big 12 minutes.
 
With about 8 minutes left (I think that was the time) ISU and 12 fouls, Nebraska 13. At end, ISU had 18, Nebraska still had 13. hmmmmm

Another note.......ISU had 3 steals, Nebraska 10. Not good for the guards we have.

Hopefully, things will get better. Wednesday will be tough though.
 
We really could have used Railey tonight for some minutes, I hope he learned his lesson.

Those two guys showed up as brick **** houses. they have good genetics. the better the genetic blueprint, the easier it is to build muscle. A skinny guy with poor genetics won't be able to handle as high work load and his muscle building upside will be a lot lower than the naturally bigger guys. So "more time in the wt room" is not a good thing for that type of individual. To solve this problem, recruit guys that are naturally bigger, thicker, and stronger. They have a bigger upside anyway. Or in the game of basketball, neutralize size and strength with athleticism, length, and speed.

Not to disagree as I'm probably older than a lot of posters on here,but many of my best memories of being at games when Johnny was coach is that we were the ones who pulled off a lot of those kind of wins. Give CFH a little time and I think you'll see the same thing.

I still think we win 5 minimum and are possibly in the NIT, which I never would have thought last March/April. And Texas Tech did go with 4 conf wins last year.
