*** Official Camping Thread vs. Kansas ***

If flag guy is also "quiet please" guy, then I agree, flag guy is a ******.

What kind of person needs to wear a neon outfit, make himself known in a silent building, and save himself the same seat?

It isn't funny. If anything, it's awkward and distracting.

Didn't know it was the same guy. I agree, "Quiet Please" guy is obnoxious.

How many are out there camping right now?

Getting excited for tomorrow. If Kane cannot play ISU is going to need some true MAGIC to pull this off. If KU's last two games are an indication, they are hitting their stride and starting to play as a team.

6 tents up right now, each with about 3-5 people in each one.

Praying brackins absolutely levels flag guy on Monday!
This flag guy sounds like a jerk. I know this is a tradition, but is he self appointed or what? And total bs on security "saving" him a seat. My husband will be front row balcony on a corner, shame if he accidentally stretched his legs during flag guy's run.

I can't stand the quiet please crap. I started disliking the current flag guy when I found out he was the same guy. I'd like to see Brackins do the flag run in the Gladis suit. Yes, if you didn't know her name is Gladis.

Also, good on you guys getting out there for the game already. I'll let you guys know though the Big Monday TV promo that ESPN was running about Hilton this morning is awesome and I'm sorry you guys missed it.

It's funny because the only people cheering flag guy's fall would be Cyclone Fanatics, and the students that get that he's a ******. Everyone else would probably be like "o my God"

I'm really disappointed in the comments & descriptions of the flag guy. That's a newer tradition that I really love. It's unfortunate that someone takes it to mean they should get preferential treatment over the rest of the students, and uses it for himself instead for getting the crowd going as intended.

Is this an elected, appointed, or self-designated position? If it isn't elected, might I suggest that it be awarded (along with preferential seating) on a game by game basis to different (qualified) individuals? By qualified, I mean a student (obviously) who can actually run around the entire concourse at a fast enough clip. Maybe have tryouts during halftime at the non-com games, and award the "most spirited performances" with the premium conference games?

If it makes you guys feel any better, he didn't get to do the run at WBB last night. There was a timeout called at 4:29, which by new WBB rules made it the "under-4" media timeout. Nobody in game production caught it (they all thought it was a regular TO, apparently), so there was no Fights play-sing-play and no flag guy run.

The way I see it if flag guy is carrying the flag and making people move, then someone that doesn't like it should do something about. Bring your own flag, find the regular flag guy before the game, kick his ***, and take what you want.

My reaction when I come back and the hate is still flowing for the flag guy

I overheard someone say poker chips. Want to get a game going tonight?

Head over to the tailgate tent then. By the way fellow CFers, Chris Williams bought us pizza for the Michigan game, Hoiberg for the Iowa game, someone else needs to step up to the plate.

I didn't really care about him either way until I heard about the situation with him booting someone out of "his" seat at the Iowa game, after they had camped for it and he showed up 2 hours before tip. That really ****** me off.

Wouldn't it make more sense for Flag Guy to sit in the balcony anyway? He only does one thing all game... and it's on the balcony.
