I agree - GT would be a coup for anyone. How does GT not fit? This is about expanding TV markets, and like you said, GT has that. They also have a relatively large fanbase, great academics, and give the Big 10 their desired entrance into the South.

Does not fit their geographic scheme? Lol, that is why they call it expanding. The Big 10 wants to get in the South. Too different? The are the same in regards to the factors that matters- TVs and academics. The Big 10 is not discriminating based on whether the students drink beer or bourbon.Look at the rest of the Big10 schools and tell me how they are similar... As mentioned they are a large tv market..but so is UCLA. As much as the Big10 covets large population centers, they want something that fits in their geographic scheme as well. Could they nab GT sure, but like I said my gut tells me that they are too different for the Big10 to go after. We've seen these kind of rumors before and I think you just have to look at it from a fresh view and to me this doesn't pass the smell test.

Hey, I hope you're correct. Ga Tech would be an absolute jack pot for the Big 12 (to hopefully go with FSU, Clemson, an NC school or two, Pitt, and who knows).
When would have they done it? 2010? 2011? Just because they didn't, does not mean they did not want to. The Big 10 has been putting out feelers for southern teams since at least 2010. The ACC teams were always thought to be the targets, but they needed an "in". They found it in Maryland's debt issues and the conference's internal disagreement on expanding/exit fees/TV contracts. It is now Sherman's march to the sea.Agreed on the Big12 but I just think we'd have seen the Big10 dip into the South by now if they were going to. Disclaimer I have no inside knowledge but just a gut feeling. Who knows how any of this crap will go down.
Since they are BIG, they can expand any direction.
Yup heard it as well, ACC is toast.Announcers openly talking about GT to the big 10 during the big 10 title game.. hmm.

They will stop at 16. Look at their new logo...this shouldn't be a surprise. When would have they done it? 2010? 2011? Just because they didn't, does not mean they did not want to. If I was delany, I would not stop until I hit 20, owned the Midwest, east, and half the south. Make two divisions (old Big 10 and ACC+PSU+Rutgers+BC).
I was thinking the same thing. B16.They will stop at 16. Look at their new logo...this shouldn't be a surprise.

There's a reason the 1G is in blue
Heard that too. Fox owns BTN. So these guys would know. Fox also is a large part of the Big 12 contract. They will have a major say in expansion.GTech and UVirginia most likely I will say to B1G, the announcers openly talked about it tonight.
