I think that realignment is done for a while, at least until a ruling has been made on the ACC vs Maryland case.

Just a random look at some schools that have that AAU status that might help their status in next rounds of realignment that are not in the "Power 4". Just reset my doggone password for the site. Happy to be back.

AAU: Virginia, UNC, Duke, Buffalo, GT, Pitt, Rice, Tulane. Syracuse is a former member. Didn't know if anyone had posted this info and what everybody thought of potential. I say BigXII waits it out until the Maryland case resolves and see if some of these are available if B1G doesn't go after the better ones before us.

How does GT not fit? This is about expanding TV markets, and like you said, GT has that. They also have a relatively large fanbase, great academics, and give the Big 10 their desired entrance into the South.

Look at the rest of the Big10 schools and tell me how they are similar... As mentioned they are a large tv market..but so is UCLA. As much as the Big10 covets large population centers, they want something that fits in their geographic scheme as well. Could they nab GT sure, but like I said my gut tells me that they are too different for the Big10 to go after. We've seen these kind of rumors before and I think you just have to look at it from a fresh view and to me this doesn't pass the smell test.

I agree - GT would be a coup for anyone.

I'm not disagreeing with that I just don't think they are a fit for what the Big10 is looking for.

On a side note...how much you want to bet Mizzou is quietly sniffing around for an invite to the Big10. They make way more sense to me even though they just switched.

Does not fit their geographic scheme? Lol, that is why they call it expanding. The Big 10 wants to get in the South. Too different? The are the same in regards to the factors that matters- TVs and academics. The Big 10 is not discriminating based on whether the students drink beer or bourbon.

Hey, I hope you're correct. Ga Tech would be an absolute jack pot for the Big 12 (to hopefully go with FSU, Clemson, an NC school or two, Pitt, and who knows).

Agreed on the Big12 but I just think we'd have seen the Big10 dip into the South by now if they were going to. Disclaimer I have no inside knowledge but just a gut feeling. Who knows how any of this crap will go down.

Personally, if I were the B1G, I'd go after UNC and Virginia to add to their eastern and southern footprint. They already showed they want AAU schools with large demographic advantages in Maryland and Rutgers. North Carolina and Virginia would certainly add that. Georgia Tech would be stepping a little further out than the B1G would like. The state of Georgia wouldn't be bordering anyone currently in their conference.

When would have they done it? 2010? 2011? Just because they didn't, does not mean they did not want to. The Big 10 has been putting out feelers for southern teams since at least 2010. The ACC teams were always thought to be the targets, but they needed an "in". They found it in Maryland's debt issues and the conference's internal disagreement on expanding/exit fees/TV contracts. It is now Sherman's march to the sea.

If I was delany, I would not stop until I hit 20, owned the Midwest, east, and half the south. Make two divisions (old Big 10 and ACC+PSU+Rutgers+BC).

If they wanted a bridge to the south, Missouri could have been it. Din't happen.

They will stop at 16. Look at their new logo...this shouldn't be a surprise.

There's a reason the 1G is in blue

GTech and UVirginia most likely I will say to B1G, the announcers openly talked about it tonight.

Heard that too. Fox owns BTN. So these guys would know. Fox also is a large part of the Big 12 contract. They will have a major say in expansion.
