The B1G may stand pat at 14, or maybe they do jump to 16 while the SEC stays where there are. The B1G prints money as it is - I very much doubt that Kansas or Iowa State (2/3rds of the AAU schools in the Big 12) are on their mind at all.

you need to visit the campuses of Cal and Stanford.
If given a choice of voting for TCU or North Dakota State, they would take NDS.
If given a choice of DMAC or TCU they would take DMAC

No private school with religious ties will ever sniff the PAC 12

I was at Stanford for the K-State game. It was the most laid-back collegiate football experience of my lifetime. More like going to a mid-season baseball game. Stadium that looks nice on TV but was built totally on the cheap. And a completely silly band. Glad I went just to experience all that it wasn't.
 
In my opinion - Keeping the big 12 intact is in the best interest of all conferences. If the big 12 implodes and ISU get left outs, how long before Grassley, Earnst and the Iowa Congressional delegation started rumblings about hearings, laws, non-profit status, etc. Substitute any left out school for ISU and that state’s Senators and congressional delegation for Iowa’s. Then add the Senators and representatives of other state’s that have schools that want a piece of the P5 money. Getting 60 “concerned” senators to agree on a non-partisan issue like this with the chance to get on TV bashing big money sports and fairness wouldn’t be that difficult. Not sure the NCAA or the P5 conferences want the kind of scrutiny.

The same thing may happen if there is a move to super-conferences and all the P5 schools find a landing spot. There are a lot of next tier state schools that will miss out on the money train.

Exactly. Still can't understand why the conference made this so public if they hadn't already made a decision.

I think they had their hand forced by the ACC getting its network done.

This wouldnt surprise me. ESPN Has taken an active role throughout all of realignment. I dont think its any coincidence, for example, that the Big East turned down ESPN, and then shortly thereafter everyone started raiding the big east. I think after the big east turned them down, ESPN floated a carrot out in front of the ACC to get them to make moves to weaken the big east.
 
Living in MD i would prefer the conference continue trending to the east but if BYU hits on all points except the honor code they should be in. The school has just as much of a right to support their religious beliefs through their code as someone has a right to marry within their gender (which i also support).

Maybe Big12 figures waiting may have cost them fsu or Clemson or a similar school. And the longer they wait the more teams they miss out on.
 
I think one of two scenarios are highly likely at this point:

1. Texas and/or OU are not committed to the B12 long term (extended GOR) and as a result the small fries (ISU, KSU, Baylor, etc) won't vote in favor of adding teams without a GOR extension.

Or

2. The TV partners have said in no uncertain terms that there aren't any financially viable expansion candidates that add value.

Either way, it's likely that the B12 will die a slow or quick death and implode no later than 2024-25.

Thought the most interesting Big 12 rep comment was BYU's "appeal does not outweigh their baggage".

Still hoping it's Cincy and Houston.

You're really going to have to narrow that down.

Are you talking about revenue sharing, scheduling, snubbing Louisville, the LHN, in game officiating, Boren, adding TCU, adding W Virginia, the Big 8 expansion, voting to not have a Big 12 Network, Dan Bebe....

This could go all night

I agree. Last year, according to ESPN, the Big 12 was in trouble because we had two good teams. This year we're in trouble be because we have no one in the top 15.

The same drivers that forced the GOR in the first are still around. Texa$ and OU still want to be the first among equals. No other conference is going to allow that.

All the above of what u said, it's a dysfunctional marriage ran by money, but eventually money only makes u happy for so long......
