***Official Baylor postgame thread***

Top 25 is just fine. This should be a program that is between 15th-35th every single year. That should be the baseline expectation given what has been built.

And except for the rebuild (which I think was ok and expectrd but some don’t) that is exactly where prohm has been.

Any of you statistical wonks know what ISU's 3-point percentage IN HILTON has been this year, or even, say, over the last 3-years? Someone raised this issue in one of the TCU threads, and I think it might reveal something (do they even do shooting drills in Hilton, compared to the complex out west, e.g.?)

I agree, and they are there. I don't blame anyone for being upset with this loss, or the TCU loss, but some of the posters out there act like this season is a complete bust, which is idiotic.

Nothing new to see here, same Prohm we have seen since he got here and same team all year.

Tactical coaching things - "specials" are bad: inbounds plays, out of timeouts, no 2-for-1s, set plays, etc. As well as in game adjustments, which are MIA. Yes, I am criticizing Prohm here, but for clarity, I am not calling for him to be fired or to bring CFH back. CSP does a lot of things really well (recruiting, player development) but he needs help on X and O. Similar to when CFH brought in Doc Sadler to teach defense one season. CSP needs to be a CEO type coach, with strong assistants to take care of the tactical stuff, IMHO.

And this team this year... they live and die with their shooting. When shots don't fall, they go in the tank on defense and the boards - it's like they give up when shots don't go in. No team in America can be easier to put a run on than ISU. Just wait for ISU to miss, and then come get a layup. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I don't expect either of these things to change this year, kids. So hold on, get ready for 11-7, a couple amazing wins and a couple soul-crushing losses.

Let's hope we don't draw a slowdown, defensive, big guys inside type of team in the NCAAs...

Who said I want TJ? It's frustrating to watch other teams get coaches like Lon Krueger, Jamie Dixon, heck look at what Barnes is doing now.

Then we make an impulse hire, they pretty much admitted Prohm got the job because he was close to Hoibergs style and they didn't want to disrupt the chemistry for the core group he left behind.

I just think they should have done a better search, we were a hot program at the time, it's not like he was some juggernaut, he made 1 tourney in 4 years at Murray.
The guy can recruit obviously, but I just don't think he's a good coach.

You seem level headed. I bet you'd love Lon Kruger this year if you were an OU fan

One does not necessarily mean the other. I'm not an advocate of firing Prohm...I do feel that the difference between good coaches (which nearly all at this level are) and great coaches (which I think we want him to be) is that they understand how to utilize what they have better than other coaches. I have yet to see this from CP in any year he's been here.

IMO, he inherited known entities that may have helped his image the first couple years. No doubt, he can recruit...but I haven't seen growth from our team. Even Babb doesn't seem as confident as he once did.

I'm not a bb expert but the eye test to me doesn't show progression. Zero in-game adjustments, limited strategy in clutch situations, on-off effort...who controls this?

Finally, all great coaches will tell you they develop a leader. Who is ours?

You could have started with you’re not a basketball expert.

It’s amazing to me the select group of “fans” on here are losing their minds about a 19-7 team playing for a 4 seed. It shows it’s not just about basketball and even X’s and O’s, because these same folks are nowhere to be found when we win big games.

As far as leader, Lindell is the alpha. Biggest game and biggest attitude. I think he has regained most of his explosiveness, but that foot is affecting his lateral movement still.

Nick and Marial are the leaders. They aren’t vocal, but they are the leaders.

I wouldn't have an agenda if this coaching staff would simply quit losing home games. They've completely ruined Hilton Magic and this just didn't start this year or last year. The guy is a mid major coach, probably rank him 9th in our league for coaching talent.
How many games do you go to in Ames?

I wonder if there are some underlying chemistry issues that are not easy to see on the surface that are starting to bubble up.

Also, it really seems like whenever both Wiggington and THT shoot poorly, especially from the perimeter, that it really effects the whole rest of the offense. I know; Captain Obvious type of statement, but them shooting a combined 2/10 from the three point line last night was just as detrimental as us getting our ass*s kicked on the boards all night.

There aren’t any chemistry issues, or this team would not be winning in tough road environments

If you had told me Mason would go 4-18 from the field, I would have said it would be a win. But we let two nobodies take over (Gillespie and Butler), and gave up way too many second chance points.

Both teams shot an identical percentage from the floor (43.3%), but Baylor took 7 more shots than ISU. That was the difference.

Iowa State only had 5 turnovers (0 by Haliburton and THT, the freshmen) or it would have been far worse.

Or last year. Lon is a great coach. Most of the prohm haters say he’s much better than prohm. But he’ll likely miss the ncaa this year and he obviously underachieved last year.

Uh oh, this has the makings of a "I'm better than you and a bigger fan because i donate millions of dollars and drive to every home game from Burlington in snowy conditions " kind of post.

But you are sure to make Iowa games and Kansas State games, right?
