***Official Baylor postgame thread***

I said the comment about the improvement from last year to this year showing he is a great coach is stupid. It’s a completely different roster and much more talented. I thought you were too busy talking about Fred choking away the Big 12 title with the last loss to Baylor to spend time in here tonight.
Tonight sucks but maybe they will win on Saturday. At this point it’s difficult to trust the staff and players to adjust when a team goes slower tempo and limits our possessions. You aren’t going to force 17 turnovers in the half court every night and that appears to be what we are relying on to kickstart our offense.

Oh yeah I remember this from you the last couple years too. Context doesn’t matter.

Carry on.

Yep, this was THE YEAR if we were going to win it. Kansas will be unstoppable next year and we lose an All Big 12 player. I just don't see any hope with this program taking the step up to the next level. The only thing we can do is be happy with our 5 or 6 seeds because that is the ceiling with this coaching staff.

Jesus you are a dumb, unbearable ****.

We’re at the end of year 4. The sample size is plenty big enough.

Btw, he had two years to recruit for that team he built last year.
No he did not because the classes were so unbalanced, what did they lose like 6 or 7 guys.
It was a mini version of when Fred came in after GM left for Creighton.

Also those 6 or 7 got all the minutes. So last year was not unexpected given nobody had a lot of playing time. Wigginton was a 5 star recruit, Lard has been solid.

Last year everyone knew was going to be a punt

If they finish 12-6 or 11-7 this year still a good season. Only 1 coach has actually been able to lead ISU to a couple of regular season Big 12 titles.

I don't think you want to compare what Prohm started with to what Fred started with, that's not a real fair comparison.

Ok then let's just stick to the FACTS like I did to begin with. League record is basically identical after four years and Prohm has matched the total wins in a season in the league. End of story

Agreed making the tournament but this team feels like a 5 that'll overlook a 12

Very possible, but also a team that could show up for a great first weekend if we get shipped to San Jose and have late games (we do not play well early this year). Then we might just get blown out in the S16. Hard to know what we will see. I will watch, of course (Loyal Sons, Forever True), but I am finding it harder to get excited to turn the games on as this season goes. Made it back for the K-State game (live out of state but always get to at least one game a year) and came away impressed with their defense and embarrassed with our lack of valuing good shots. Similar stuff tonight. We could have pulled tonight's win off if we contested just a bit more and put some more value on possessions through better ball movement down the stretch.

Newsflash: Fred was 37-33 his first four years at ISU in the Big 12. He also never finished with more than 12 league wins. Prohm has matched that as well.

Lets see who they inherited

This is who Fred could play his first year
Jordan Railey
Bubu Palo
Melvin Ejim
Jake Anderson
Diante Garret
Scott Christopherson
Eric McKnight
Calvin Godfrey
Jamie Vanderbeken
Demarcus Phillips
Drew Mitchell

This is who Steve could play his first year
Jameel McKay
Abdel Nader
Hallice Cooke
Monte morris
Naz Long
Matt Thomas
Deonte Burton
Georges Niang
Jordan Ashton
Stuart Nezlek (stud)

Excluding the first season Fred went 46-26 in the Big 12

Its a stupid argument, it's comparing apples to oranges. Fred would have won 6 or 7 more games if he was handed the roster Prohm was handed his first year. Your facts are cherry picked as ****.

A possible 5 seed (or so) is mediocre? What kind of entitled little ******* do we have in our fan base?
Perhaps a 5-seed in the Big 12 tournament, too, but to answer his question, a long time.

It’s telling you criticize those that have higher aspirations for this program than a “possible 5 seed” in what is likely a local peak year. Although this season is successful in a general sense, it’s disappointing when reasonable goals are not met in part due to home losses.

Do you think Fred not recruiting his last two years had any impact on the rosters that prohm coached his first two years?

Um... What? We've finished in the top 2 of the conference exactly one time in the last decade and even then we shared 2nd that year. Seems like a reasonable hope, but an unreasonable expectation.

Can't disagree with our program's record. Pretty sure we've had the talent to finish much higher in the league multiple years during that stretch. I can't think of many years since Hoiberg came where we really "peaked." His first year was overachieving but we still finished at the bottom of the league. The S16 year with Georges' injury, sure. Other than that, it feels like we've either reached our potential or underachieved.

Which coach can take us to the top? the last guy could not, no coach has since LE. Who is out there that can finish ahead of Self that would come coach at ISU?

Self could be in the NBA next year, the fact the NCAA bans a kid for 2 years which is unheard of, is the first sign the NCAA might come down on them.

There is a reason the AD has a big as buyout negotiated if they get put on probation
