Last night made Thuggy Bears teams look like candy asses-Got away with murder Fran F was all over the officials. Nope not a foul, not in position to call that because he can't see it. "That is not a foul on Rob Jones"

We are not talking about the same play. I will look it up and post it when I have time this morning.Just for the record that's not at all how that play happened, for one thing in the second half we were playing offense on the side of the court our bench was on, it was Gilbert driving, and it was Cryer guarding Gilbert, and they did call a foul.
Show me where I said we aren't.Oh please. We are the benefactors of this as well.
Show me where I said we aren't.
Maybe, but Gilbert only made one three in front of our bench off an inbound. We are not talking about the same play. I will look it up and post it when I have time this morning.
Yes also the experience of that situation in that arena. Is going to Bramlage seem intimidating now?Playing a game like that and losing is far better than playing a game against mediocre opponent and winning. What an absolute dog fight. We didn't back down at all and we played with some of the best toughness I've seen us play with all year long. Our guys deserve this long break until Saturday and it'll be great for them. Then put away WVU early and get some of these guys rest again.
I'll preface this by saying Keshon Gilbert is my favorite player outside of Tamin.. There was a stretch there were we had numerous possessions to make this game extremely uncomfortable for them and Keshon missed 3 FTs, including the front end of a 1 and 1, and he also turned the ball over I think on consecutive possessions. I'm in no way blaming him for the loss, and the FTs were actually more important than the turnovers. He still ended up hitting two big threes later on but that little stretch of time could've cut the game to 2-3 points and maybe us taking a lead had we not turned it over.
Either way, incredible effort by our guys. The crazy thing is that we didn't play well on the road against arguably the best team in the nation and we still had a chance late in the game. That rarely ever happens and is a testament to our defense and toughness. Someone mentioned this a few pages back but look no further than Marquette @ UCONN this past Saturday where Marquette doesn't play well and UCONN beats em by almost 30.
This is probably a massive oversimplification but it feels to me like the difference is they have Jamal Shead and we don't.
Every time ISU got the lead down to 5, it seemed like he was the answer.
He made shots down the stretch and then started driving to draw fouls, and made something like 11 of 12 free throws.
He was so good for them.
Absolutely not, and what's awesome is I don't care where you stick this team, they're not going to be intimidated. We've played poorly on the road in one single game and that was against BYU where they played extremely well and hit a bunch of threes.Yes also the experience of that situation in that arena. Is going to Bramlage seem intimidating now?
Tamin Lipsey getting plowed over by a moving screen is an obvious foul. They didn't call it.This is really pretty simple. You said in your prior post that it's not that hard to just call obvious fouls.
A) It is hard. You call all the contact, and all the sudden you've called 75 fouls in a 3 hour long game. Refs dont want that, coaches don't want that, fans don't want that, leagues don't want that, tv companies don't want that, etc. It's just not feasible. So in a game like this, it is incredibly hard to determine what's worthy of a whistle and what's not.
B) You can't have your cake and eat it to. We get away with a lot of obvious fouls. I know some people here don't want to hear that, but we do. So if you want a game where all the "obvious fouls" are called, prepare for our team to be in massive foul trouble all night.
It's just a silly look to complain about physicality when it goes against you, but expect to be allowed to guard the way we guard on a nightly basis.
I know, look at the play that led to the inbound. I may be wrong, but I haven't had time to look for it yet.Maybe, but Gilbert only made one three in front of our bench off an inbound.
Shead plays the same way all game long, guy is a machine. This is probably a massive oversimplification but it feels to me like the difference is they have Jamal Shead and we don't.

So no missed calls on ISU?Tamin Lipsey getting plowed over by a moving screen is an obvious foul. They didn't call it.
My point is clear and still stands.

Cheap Shots go hand in hand with Kelvin Samson. Get used to it.And generally I am OK with that. The foul discrepancy was not out of the ordinary at all playing on the road (and a lot of it was last 2 minute fouls). What p!ssed me off me was that UH had a handful of borderline dirty plays that weren't called. e.g.-
It seemed to me like UH made a conscious decision to go after Tamin physically. And I get it, he is critical for ISU and has been banged up. So hit him a few times and put him off his game. And it worked.
- The leaning screen on Tamin where the guy just blasted him with his shoulder and dropped him.
- The forearm shiver from Shead to Tamin where Tamin went to the deck and Shead went in for a layup.
Physical is one thing. Handsy fouls in another thing. But cheap shots are on an entirely different level.
