BYU is better than I thought. Road wins are hard to come by in the Big 12. Thought we might see a good shooting night when Tamin and CJones both hit their first 3 attempts. TJ needs to figure something out to get Milan open looks. Ward and Jones have provided good garbage buckets but we can’t run offense through them.

I totally agree on Milan. The offensive ability is obviously there. But they’ve got to find a way to get it to him in better spots. He’s not a threat to put it on the floor but we seem to want to make him make contested catches 28 feet from the hoop, where he gets hounded because he can’t go around you. I’d like to see him more in that pick and pop 4 position than trying to make him a wing. Work him from the high post where we see Rob a lot.

I don't know if it's the sets we run or the execution, but our guys run offense like robots. There's no purpose. Eventually we drive into the lane that is packed. Would love to see us spread the floor more. Not sure if it's lack of confidence, but I think we have guys that are more than capable of hitting 3s. They just have to pull the trigger.
I think the individual shooting abilities are better than the opportunities and looks they receive in our current offensive scheme. Yes. 100%

Maybe we see that next year when he's bulked up some. Assuming there is a next year with Milan.

BYU played really lights out bball tonight. Got to tip the hat to them. They played smart and hit a lot of hand in their face contested 3s and some wide open 3s. I think we needed to make some defensive adjustments in this game that just never happened for some reason. They were aggressive seeking the offensive rebounds, they played annoyingly good def, better than expected. They have good size and length and they compete. All of which make them extremely annoying. Just like us back in our Hoigberg days, they aren't going to shoot as well on the road. Lets kick their butt later at Hilton. Winning on the road is really crazy tough in the b12.

Keshon has been remarkably inefficient. He went 6/15 from the field, 0/3 from 3 and had 4 turnovers.
It reminds me of Tyrese Hunter a few years ago. With so many non-threat teammates he’s finding himself having to force the issue. And our jump shooting isn’t exactly helping spacing. If Keshon isn’t attacking I’m not sure where you think our offense comes from.

I'm not going to read a whole lot into this one. You have to be ready to go each game in this league. If you aren't, you'll lose and it can get ugly pretty quick. Way too many good teams in the Big 12, absolutely no gimmies.

Pretty much this. We hung on for awhile in a pretty obvious buzzsaw situation. It happens. BYU is going to be a WVU-esque place to go and get ran on in this league.

I can understand losing. What I can not abide as a fan is a thorough and complete boat racing. Those need to stay buried back in the Prohm era.

Spot on. Tired of seeing Milan catching the ball behind the arc and having to twist 90 degrees as he shoots because his defender is in his hip pocket.

Interesting take. You can't switch as easily when your man can turn and shoot. That might be interesting.

And dirtier than the typical foes we play. How often did KG or TL or CJ get past their defender & were being body checked on the way to the hoop & NO CALL? The refs were not the reason we lost but, man, you absolutely CANNOT reward piss-poor defense like that. Houston was physical - but they were staying with our guys. I could handle watching that aggressiveness. Tonight was 2nd-rate defenders getting away with pushing & body-checking & hacking after being beaten 1 on 1. That, coupled with our inability to make shots, made it for a particularly frustrating evening. Oh well, on to the next game. Flush this one & hope that one of our fellow Big 12 teams deliver another (and even harder) body check into #15!
