Like to see what the Ames soil moisture sensor is reading now, at the 21 inch line. Iowa Mesonet had an interesting display the last rain we had and how little of it went down that far.

I’m a little surprised at all the 10” measurements around the DSM area. I measured around 6-7” in Waukee, are people measuring drifts??
In West Des Moines my car had at least 8" on the roof. Drifts up to my north facing sliding glass door were about 2 feet.

What’s your thoughts on the snow Friday?
More plowable amounts.

Starting to see better consistency in the long run in that second bit of data on the timeline. Not a given yet... but several inches possible. This data is for 24 hour total snowfall for Des Moines assuming 10-1 ratio... which is probably low given the setup. More likely closer to 14:1 (so take max numbers x 1.4)

Ideally you'd like to see similar numbers... lined up in their columns like the tail end of this storm you see on the left.

Ok, now that we're all as disappointed with the measurements as our wives, what's the next system looking like?
What difference does the size make?

I could have an 11” hog, the baby’s arm holding an apple type. And it would still be as useless as a fart in the wind.

Just did my driveway, about 8 inches in Des Moines. I highly recommend the Arien's Compact 24. The thing is a workhorse. I had to take it a little slower today though so I didn't break a shearing pin since the snow was really heavy.
