Not this time, especially if its already starting as snow. There's 3 heavy snow makers in this storm, each can produce 2-6". The risks to not getting much are that the first one was too warm and starts as rain or a mix, but that already didn't happen. The second heavy wave comes just before dawn (in Eastern IA), it could miss if a "dry slot" mixes in, but from what I've read, none of the models are predicting that. The third wave is the wrap around snow after the temps drop and the wind picks up tomorrow. That seems the most likely to miss as it is dependent on the system behaving a certain way. But the way this system set up, it's not one that is likely to be a non-event. It certainly could be 3-4" overnight and just a bit tomorrow, but that's within the predicted range. it won't be less than an inch.
With the Weather Channel it more of a guessing game than with the local stations. They just seem to focus on the highly populated areas. Was that the GFS model or the Euro model they used?
I usually scoop out a 12' x 12' patch of yard unless it gets shallower in other places (and then I scoop a path out to the shallow spots).
