***Official 2023 Weather Thread***

By my sensors (average of 2 outdoor temperature sensors, both in the shade and 1 humidity sensor). I get a current Heat Index of 124.5. 97.5° and 64% rh.

I mowed half the back yard around noon - about ready to do the other half. Then it's time for a shower.
I don't understand why people (including two neighbors last evening) feel the need to mow their yards in this humid hot nightmare. We haven't mowed for probably four weeks at least, and it's not worth dying over.

Wish I had your internal thermostat. I'm sweating looking out my window.
I may have pushed the limit a bit. Took the dog to the park around noon. We stayed mostly in shade, but when we got to the empty beach (thanks school!), I decided to take off my hiking boots and just go in with him. We were both dry by the time we got back to the car. I am beat now and we barely went 1.5 miles. Lake water wasn’t very cool at all, but it probably was just enough to keep me from overheating.

Just finished mowing two yards and took my third shower for the day. Took one after going to the gym, had a sweat shower mowing, and just finished taking one again trying to cool down.

Took my BP for the heck of it, just to see where it was at after over an hour outside. 108/77 with a heart rate of 87.
You're just playing with it if you've showered 3 times already.

I'm assuming that uses most of a runway to take off?
Too many variables to say. Depends on how heavy they are, the plane and how much power it produces and of course wind. So the wind would actually help them as at least here at CID the wind is 230 at 14 gusting to 19 so only 40 degrees off the runway and at a decent clip so that will make up for some of the lost air performance.

How do you calculate DA? Curious what all goes into it.

Eh, for my part, we've had enough rain things are green and growing. We're basically a day behind Iowa weather so this is going to continue for another couple days. It's a new lawn this year and it came in pretty well. I didn't bother mowing the front. It can wait. I tried mowing at 6am, but it was super wet grass.
