Walking outside at 6:55A and it's already this muggy?

Oh yeah. Storms are a-brewin'.

Is today's weather going to channel 2018 energy?

Also, make sure all y'all and your significant others fill up your vehicles' gas tanks and any gas can you have.

I’m not saying it wasn’t the right call. I understand the safety aspect, but it seems like the last couple years every time schools start cancelling, then the forecast magically improves and the cancelling was essentially pointless.

Perhaps they need a cancellation watch system. Just announce that there is a potential for school closure and people should watch for updates. Just say that a decision will be made by a certain time so people can be prepared if they need to make arrangements. But with forecasts changing so often, actually cancelling a day out seems unnecessary.

Cancelling early does give parents more time to make plans.

Sure. But that's the point of announcing that there's a likelihood of school closure. Let the parents start making plans, but give yourself an option if the weather shifts. Tell them you'll make a final call by 5:00 AM or something. At worst, parents plan for a non-event.

We’re supposed to be heading from DM to Davenport then Illinois in about 20 mins, trying to make a call on whether to cancel those plans
