My mom said today that her trees are starting to act like spring is coming. Both her lilacs and her sugar maples look like they do before they start to bud out. Interesting since it hasn't been a warm February or anything.

GFS for the better part of a week had been forecasting another load of snow for S. Dakota, Minny and Northern Iowa.

The NWS service offices in this area are again starting to pick up on it. It this pans out those areas may have snow on the ground Memorial Day.

Increased risk of significant flooding, sure. Snow on the ground well into May, very doubtful. It gets very hard to keep temperatures suppressed that far south for sustained periods of time, even with snowpack, once you start pushing into April. The snow goes rapidly with a few long, sunny days in the mid 50's and lows that don't dip below freezing.

I know. Just being absurd with what might be an absurd amount of snow on the ground.

We are in South Lake Tahoe. Lucky enough to miss the blizzard that ended early Wednesday am this week and dropped 5 feet on the town. It's an absolute mess trying to get anywhere here because they don't have anywhere to put the snow. Another 2 feet is expected tomorrow through Monday and we're told we have to leave Saturday morning instead of Sunday because we'll be stuck here for days if we don't.

Hello, that's a invite to stay and ski fresh tracks :D

They were tapping maples in the C.R. area a week ago.

Cold air punch is messing up my Spring Break escape to Bentonville for some mtn biking. Gonna be low 40s down there, uggh. I hate mother nature.

Ok weather folks, need input on how to handle travel later this week. We are supposed to be flying out of MSP very late on Friday to head to Bozeman/Big Sky and the forecast is leaving me feeling :(:(. We have to drive DSM at some point, original plan was to drive Friday morning and kill time in the area until heading to the airport. What are the odds we get out on Friday?

Another 4" to 5" here in the Twin Cities. My peeps are calling it the White Tide after some friends in Florida are having their beach month ruined by the red tide down there.
