Kids and I already prepped our basement. Just finished taking photos of everything.
I moved into a new classroom this year in one of the older parts of the building. Carpet is really old and oh my god the smells coming out of it today.
The one thing that blows my mind is that now if there isn’t an EF3+ in every city and town in the high risk area we have to deal with the “OVERHYPED!” crowd.
I again register my complaint that on a five-point scale of severity, 3 is "enhanced" and 4 is "moderate" when it should be the other way around.
Not that it matters in this case since I think we all understand what "high" means.
Just got done telling friends if you are CR to Peoria, be very, very alert today and then this gets issued.
First one since spring 2021 apparently. I don’t remember hardly ever seeing that rating.
I’m an hour east of Des Moines. Very warm, but a lot of cloud cover this morning. Not sure if that would do anything to help hold back the really bad stuff. Wouldn’t take much sun I’m sure though.
Or worse if there is just one.....ONE then it's epic, historic, never happened, new normal.
Everyone has their opinions on Ryan but if you like weather and want to get the whole picture with a live chaser network he does it in a really palatable way. I’ll have him tuned in. Also his radar set up and warning system is probably quicker and better than your local news.
I don't really care whether people watch Ryan or not, this is probably a bigger part of the future than many people admit, but this is completely detached from reality or whatever was sold here.
Warnings come directly from the National Weather Service. We get them instantly, and are in webchats with them. There's literally no way it could be faster or different. Legally only the NWS can issue a warning...so...
And we're all accessing and using NWS radar data, in addition to stations that own their own radar, which again, the data is the data. Dude doesn't have his own radars out there, so, I mean...quicker and better?
But by all means, pay attention to someone. Ryan Hall is an option, but you could lose local attention when he's got to cover the whole country. Have either him or something local on a second screen.
