Parts of Marshall, Iowa and Benton counties have been/are getting hammered by 2"+ hail and 60+ winds

We lived just east of the mall in Ames along 24th and had no hail.

Son in IC said wind has really picked up starting to rain hard.

That's scary because I was playing football in the yard with my two kids then. We debated stopping when we heard the thunder but continued on anyway.

Not from tonight but I just stumbled across this from Nebraska last night.

Looks like one long train of severe storms heading right for central Iowa.

The storm moving through sw Iowa dropped marble sized hail on us. Hail hit for about 5 minutes and petered out. Looks like the east side of the storm got bigger hail than the west.

My brother wanted to go out to get some like this one time......he put on a 4 wheeling helmet. Those ice balls sat in the freezer for a long time.
