It’ll end up being

Top of the Rotation SP (Montgomery, Imanaga, Trade)
Bellinger
Chapman OR Hoskins (whichever one signs last)
2 bullpen arms

I feel like I'm the only one that prefers Chapman.

I think Morel has a better chance of being a competent 1B than 3B and the bat is obviously good enough to make him your full time DH after PCA is ready.

I would take Chapman over Hoskins.

Chapman will get on base less than Hoskins but he **** pumps the ball and plays elite defense.

For the "what about Morel?" crowd, his defense wasn't great in the Dominican this year, it's never been great in his limited opportunities, and I'm tired of having the market size we do yet having multiple questions at multiple positions going into every season. That should never happen.

For the "What about Shaw" crowd, this buys him an extra year to grow, and then gives him a couple of years where he can learn the way of the MLB without having to be relied on to hold the fort on a position. This is one area I feel like the Dodgers and Braves excel - they don't force their prospects to be playoff-caliber starters from day one, they mold them into that.

All of that being said, I think we get Hoskins. It makes the most sense.

And the exciting thing about Chapman is your entire infield (with Bellinger at 1B) are gold-glove winners AND still gold-glove caliber, while Happ and PCA are either caliber or past winners.

That part makes it a no-brainer for me, but I'm not real confident in the front office's approach right now with all the quiet and the non-signing and all.

So how good is this guy suppose to be?
Gets compared to Kodai Senga frequently, and if he produces anything similar to Senga last year, we got a solid top of the rotation guy.

Would still love to trade for Bieber unless the Guardians are holding him for a stupid price. Still don’t think we have a true 1, but we’d have a lot of solid 2s-3s

The idea of Hendricks and Taillon being the back of your rotation shows you have a pretty damn good rotation.

Fastball that sits 91-94 with funky movement and slot that pairs with an equally funky splitter/slider hybrid that sits upper 80s.

It's the swing and miss that this rotation needed.

Steele
Imanaga
Taillon
Hendricks
Wicks/Assad/Wesneski

Now go get Bellinger done and either Hoskins or Chapman.

The reason I like the idea of adding Montgomery as well is to separate the lefties at the top.

I like this signing. I hope they can resign Bellinger as long as it's not a huge overpay. I'm not a Chapman fan because I don't like any players that struggle to hit above the Mendoza line, but I suppose if you can get him at a decent rate for a shorter term contract it wouldn't be bad since he is elite defensively.

If Steele can replicate last year’s performance, he’s pretty much as true #1 as it gets
