If the Cubs are going to break the bank to sign a guy this would be it. You essentially are paying for an elite pitcher and hitter that only takes up 1 roster spot.

I’m not going to get my hopes up but I do think the Dodgers are the only realistic team that can compete with us financially.

I think this last offseason was intended to prepare us for Shohei. Between Hendricks, Heyward, and Bellinger alone, we open up $53.5 million on our books next year.

The only hesitation I have is the Cubs have put themselves in a weird position with Taillon. If you land Shohei, Taillon will be sucking up $18 million fighting with Smyly ($8.5 million) Wicks (#6 prospect) and Brown (#8 prospect) for the 5 spot

I’m hopeful as well, but the schedule gets dicy the next few weeks, out west trip, see the Dodgers twice in a couple of weeks, if we can stay .500 or just above I’d take it in a heartbeat.

Never count out the Mets owner. He doesn't care what he spends on the luxury tax.

They did the same for me last season. Started out really well and then went on multiple losing streaks. I’m tempering my expectations.

They were openly bad last year. It was never a secret that they wouldn't be good.
These guys will be fine. Probably not 96 wins fine, but 82-88 wins. The franchise looks to be trying again.

Another rough outing for Wesneski but wow Velasquez making a statement tonight. This may not be a short term call up if he can consistently hit while he's up.
