Going to have to put sensors in the pads then too so you know when their knee is down. Or just have pressure sensors on the field to be able to see every foot or knee or hand right as it touches the turf. Or better yet, let's just turn football into eSports and just have them play Madden instead.
You don't have to do it for every call. Measurement calls would be easy to do with sensors. Tennis for a long time just had a sensor on the net to detect 'lets'. They still used line judges though for out/in calls. Football could easily implement technology for first down, goal line and out of bounds calls.

Wow, South Korea scores in extra time to beat Portugal and will advance out of the group due to a tie-breaker over Uruguay.

It is ironic to see Suarez's yellow card actually made a difference. Suarez was too dumb to keep on arguing with the referee that he ended up getting the yellow card. I think Uruguay's attack got a little bit blunt after he went off

this is the best group stage in the World cup and I have been watching the World Cup since 1986.

Wasn’t the tie breaker by South Korea won by having more total goals? The next tie breaker would have been yellow cards.

Edit: nevermind, see what you mean. Honestly was surprised Suarez was subbed later on.

OK. We need this group from the studio show more than every 4 years. They're so much better than anything we get for CFB.

How often is it no teams get 9 points in group stage? Only 3 got 7. Seems less than usual but maybe just my perception.

There were several teams that coasted in their final game sitting on 6 points. If Brazil wanted 9 points, they would have gotten 9 points.

Fortunately, when Brazil and France coasted it did not impact the group outcome. I did not watch the Portugal match but even if they played it safer vs. coasting their loss did impact the group outcome.

If somehow when they go to 48 if they figure out a way to seed based upon group outcome that keeps teams playing their best throughout group play.

It blows my mind that Croatia has roughly the population of Iowa yet almost can always compete and win at highest level in FIFA and FIBA.
I mean anyone with an iota of athletic ability plays football. Anyone identified as a talent is promptly thrust into an academy where football is first and they can learn to read from 4-5 in the afternoon. It’s a little different overseas.

Interesting stat from the group play: only one team didn't give up a "regular" goal - the United States, whose lone goal they gave up was on a PK - and if they hadn't played stupid at the end of the Wales game wouldn't have given that up, either.

The offense and tactics (passivity) have been much criticized, and rightfully so, but we've been playing incredibly good defense and goaltending in this WC so far.
